BH says he wants to play for a competitive program... and then he makes his first call to Missouri ?! UMo finished 16-16 this season; 6-10 in conf. play; 10th place in the conference.

Of all the schools mentioned in that article, I see UMo being the worst fit for BH in terms of the style of BKB they play. Mike Anderson runs a pressing, fast-breaking, shoot quickly, helter-skelter system meant to wear down the other team. It's a slightly updated version of Nolan Richardson's "40 minutes of Hell". (And to think BH got upset when JG freelanced.) I just don't see Ben fitting in well with that style of BKB.

If BH wants to go home and play for the school he grew up following in his childhood, that's fine and dandy. It's also OK to state that publicly, plus it would be an honest statement.

Not saying they don't have one, but I couldn't find anything about a practice facility for basketball on their website. It does look like they are building or have built a new arena, so they probably do have a practice facility.

The thing that gets me is that he is going to give up one year of playing college basketball just to get out of Mississippi State. Man things must be really bad for him if he wants to give up a year just to get out of MSU. What the Hell is going on? I mean if I was a sophomore and I loved playing basketball things would have to be very bad to warrant "spending" a year sitting the bench to play again only as a senior.

Wow! things are really 17ed at MSU.

well, he will just redshirt while he sits out, and then play for 2 more years. its not like he is giving up one of his 4 years of playing to transfer.

1. He will not give up a year. He will sit, use that as a redshirt and then play 2.

2. I really think the practice facility thing was someting Stans asked him to say.

He can redshirt next season while he sits out and still have 2 years to play as a RS Jr. & a RS Sr.

<p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"></p>

<span style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 10.0pt">"to play in a competitive program and be able to excel as a team." <--- My interpretation of this comment (and I know I am reading between the lines)......Ben should have had the ball in his hands leading the team instead of in the hands of Jamont driving the lane.

My take on the entire situation: Student athletes are turning into a bunch of pussies and we appear to have the lion's share of them at MSU.

Also, concerning the release comment to SEC schools. I hope the bastard sits a year. I don't know why we released him at all. Stans needs to set a precedent. If you are a starter in our winning program and you think you should be able to just leave willy nilly to another program, then you are sorely mistaken. I don't care the circumstance. These guys are getting free educations in most situations. So waiting an extra 365 to play again isn't going to hurt their future. Hell if anything it will give them time to practice and to be eligible in graduate school...which they will again get for free.</span></p>

I may be reading too much into that quote, but I think that's the reason Ben transferred instead of the BS play for a competitive program, when he was already playing for one. I think Stans approach of "J-Money can do what J-Money wants" is the main reason we lost Ben and possibly the Delks.

Ben was just a *****. Jamont was first team All-SEC. Yes, Gordon could get out of control but he was also the key reason that have won around 46 games the last 2 years. When you have a player like Gordon you can't just force him to fit into a system to make your slow footed, reluctant to shoot, not recruited by any other big school, brother of an All-Amercian feel better about himself. Especially if the odds are in favor of Gordon leaving early. Makes no sense.

I agree totally. Sort of a, "if you're going to leave me, at least help me out by saying this"...type quote.

I be danged if I would go to a school that I wasnt good enough for 3 years ago. They day Tyler put on the baby blue hat all interest in Ben vanished with the exception of us and Southern Illinois. Now you go and make a name for yourself you want to give them a second chance. Piss on that.

Ben, you little ****. We gave you the ONLY opportunity to play big-time college basketball. The ONLY. And yes, you have improved as a player whether that was any fault of the coaching staff or not. And yes, you got to win two Western Division SEC titles and you got to finish second overall in the SEC this year and play on the big stages as a starter for a big-time program. So now, after two successful years, with two more on the horizon, you want to leave because you have a wedgie.

Ben, you little ****. (this also applies to the Delk sisters)

There has been a rift between he and Stans over the treatment some players get. He just does not like the way the program is run, and his dad encouraging things did not help.

look at these 2 quotes:

He (Ben) also averaged 33.5 minutes per game, which was more than any Missouri player averaged this season.</p>

"He doesn't have his mind made up about anything except that he doesn't want to play at Mississippi State next year."</p>

</p>

Dear Ben and Dad,</p>

Grow up. Grow the <17> up. You have peaked as a player, you have peaked in the conference, you have peaked with the exposure you will get. You are now officially off the radar. Your limitations have nothing to do with MSU or Stansbury. You were lucky MSU paid any interest in you at all. Hind sight 20/20, we probably would have passed on you for a much more prolific player.
</p>

You have the following to look forward to. Less playing time. Less exposure. And coming to the full realization that you are a decent short white kid with a B game.</p>

My advice: go see a shrink. Soon. You are projecting the favoritism Stans has with Jamont for the favoritism your Dad has with your brother. Deal with your <17>ing issues. Daddy didn't miss your games because of Stans. Daddy likes Tyler and UNC better due to his own issues and because he is an *** and not a good father to you for being too lazy to come to your games. Leaving MSU is not going to fix that - he is still going to go see Tyler play.
</p>

I just get tired of the BS "well I want to play for a more competitive team" or my favorite " I want to play in a higher scoring offense" when we were 2nd in the SEC in scoring that year. I sure as hell wouldn't trade Jamont for Hans or the Delks for that matter, any day of the week and twice on Sunday. I just don't understand how we recruit "role players", but they want to be the stars. Makes no damn sense to me.
