409.....wasn't that a choice in an AMX Javelin? i understand that was the first "muscle" car used by law enforcement to run down speeders . Of course 409 has a more significant meaning here....a record that will live forever.

So, my dad is a big car guy. He says the 409 was offered in the early to mid 60’s full size Chevy cars. Biscayne, Impala, etc. The 401, he thinks, was the option in the AMX. Regardless, 409 will never be reached again on a football field by a single coach. That will stay with Joe forever and they can’t take it away.

your dad knows his cars- AMC did build a 401- not to be confused with Buick's 401, the famous nailhead.
