"You better believe that I’d be searching around the clock if I was in the region. Grab a six pack of light beer, get the boys together and go on the greatest scavenger hunt in South Carolina history."

Something ain't right here.First the pilot ejects due to a "mishap".Then the transponder not working right,no one see or hears anything, and the military says they are looking in Moultie/Marion lake area but people in that area say they have seen no evidence of military looking.

A funny line in one article said officials noted that the plane was left in autopilot when the pilot ejected, so it was possible that it was still flying. It would obviously be out of fuel by now though.

My guess is it's in the vast wilderness of the Francis Marion. A coon hunter will come across it one night.

Then that begs the question,Why eject from a perfectly good aircraft?

I know your post was in jest but it might turn out to be something as crazy as that.Never heard of a pilot ejecting for any other reason than mechanical failure.Nobody said anything about that so far.Makes you wonder.

The silence on the ''mishap'' is very telling.
Standard story that releasing information will hamper the investigation. Yea, right.

How do you know it was a "he"? I didn't find any article that mentions the sex of the pilot.
The pilot who ejected himself from the F-35 was discharged from the hospital on Monday afternoon, according to the official.

The pilot, whose name has not been released, had no major injuries and was in stable condition before being discharged, the official said. No civilian injuries have been reported from the incident.
