I don't know why people think they can do whatever they want. It sounds like he was trying to drive the wrong direction in a lane closed from a wreck. He was told to stop and tried to keep going. Then when in the wrong, talk however they want to Police.

That road is extremely congested with people walking the shoulder to get in. Dangerous. Then you pop off at the cop.

There are so many people at Valhalla. They don't have enough parking around the course. They are busing people from the fairgrounds.

Rideshare can't get into the gate. They are dropping people on the side of the road. It is crazy crowded at Valhalla.

They are saying the players were told to do so. The cops had PGA logos on their car. No one could tell event security from cops.

Sounds like a "do you know who I am" or a "do you know who my daddy is" incident. I wouldn't have a clue who Scottie Scheffler was if he came driving down the wrong side of the road
Part of me wonders that, but I find it hard to imagine Schaffer throwing gas on the situation when he needs to get in and warm up. Maybe I’m wrong. Curious to hear the cops side of it.

Oh he'll come out of it fine. It will all be a small misunderstanding blamed on a minimum wage rent a cop directing traffic

A friend of our family used to work the big PGA events. He always said it was the biggest logistical nightmare in sports when they crammed 30-50K people into a golf course that was never designed to host more than a few hundred in a day.

Also.. this is the first interesting thing Scottie Scheffler has ever done.

He's charged with second degree assault on a police officer... which is a felony.

Players ride in on a bus. And this guy is leading the tournament.
Players have reserved parking at the club. Then everything that’s left goes to caddies and title sponsors. TV has a compound where they all park and never is big enough(they do zero carpooling), and we always park on site with our backup gear.

All patrons are bussed in and it is always a total shitshow for pga events. The schemes are always complicated(contraflows, bus only lanes, etc) and people are rarely well versed in what they are supposed to do.

The complicating factor here is the pedestrian being struck and killed and Scheffler likely not knowing that on the way in.
