With a straight face put in as a pretty much lock in Indiana, A team that beat one team with a winning record all year. Secondly, how does Miami who lost two of the last three to unranked opponents, deserve to be considered one of the best 12. Their SOS is pitiful

IU is not pretty much a lock. They are an absolute lock. Nothing could knock them out at this point.

To the latter point, the committee has sent a VERY strong signal this year that SOS is virtually irrelevant for P4 teams.

This probably means next year strength of schedule will be their most important criterion. The cfp committee is just another form of politician.

lol, for sure. How much you wanna bet we put together a great season next year, but our SOS dips and we are penalized by the committee for that?

At the same time they haven't proven they can beat anyone with a pulse since they lost to the only decent team they played (OSU).

So, are they better than crappy teams but not as good as a team that is still somewhat of an unknown (but is assumed to be one of the best - not sure what they're basing that on)?

It'll happen in some season where SC gets something akin to Texas' conference schedule, and the athletic department will have wised up prior to that time and scheduled ooc games such as Chas Southern, FIU, and Dutch Fork. Gamecocks will go 11-1 and the committee will be like...well SOS is the most important thing so 13 again.

Remember, The Committee is being lobbied by ALL of the conferences, and as such, they are attempting in a pathetic way to be as fair as possible. While we all know that the SEC is THE best conf in the land, with the best talent and teams, they will never justify a top heavy playoff with SEC teams…EVER. There is probably an agreement (quota) for the max number of SEC teams being considered. You will continue to see these weak *** teams like SMU, Indiana, Boise, Arizona State going forward. It’s now apparent that 10-2 seasons will be the bottom baseline for true consideration.

^^^^ I get the logic of "they can't help their schedule". First, that's not completely true. They do not control most of it due to conference games but everyone controls their schedule or can attempt to by who they choose to schedule outside of conference games. Look at the most of the teams who are ranked ahead of SC and/or who can potentially get in due to the lame autobid - they were not concerned about strong ooc schedules.
