How da fook is Georgia not the #1 SEC team?

Beat Texas at Texas. Lost 2 games on the road to top teams. Either they are trying to project who will win the SEC (which is stupid because Texas won’t) or they are stupid. I suppose Georgia could get screwed by the SEC chip game tiebreaker but it’s proving that the committee is still sorta looking at record and paper strength, rather than what happens on the field.

Home losses should hurt more than road losses. Committee doesn’t get football. Georgia has the best 2 losses and are obviously better than Texas.

Tennessee should be over Ole Miss too.

Georgia has virtually no chance of playing in the SEC championship. That’s why they don’t have the bye. They are only ranked behind OM and Bama (who both beat them soundly) as far as the at large teams from the SEC.

If Texas beats Bama in Atlanta, Georgia moves ahead of Bama. If Bama beats Texas, Georgia moves ahead of Texas. If Texas A&M beats Bama, Georgia moves ahead of Bama. If Bama beats Texas A&M, nothing changes as they are already ahead of Texas A&M.

There is no “top” team in the SEC this year. Any of the top 6-7 teams could beat one another. Also disagree that Tennessee should be above Ole Miss. Almost all the metrics favor OM. I wish people would stop arguing the point, because I feel gross defending the Confederates.

Georgia being the top team doesn’t really matter if they can’t get the bye. The committee is just ranking things as they sit right now. If Bama beats Texas, their resume would blow Georgia’s away. Same if Texas beats Bama. Right now they are ranked where they should be.
