That's your right, but I just don't see a reason to be that pessimistic in March. Otherwise what's the point in getting excited for football? I imagine there will be plenty of time for pessimism once the season starts.
People with experience know better than to be optimistic about gamecock football.

I think it says a lot though when "optimistic" about Gamecock football is projecting 6 wins!
I said in another post that USC should follow the UK model and focus on basketball and make football an afterthought. The football team would have a really good season every decade or so, just like now, but basketball could be a yearly contender. The wasted effort and angst over football every year is foolish.

I agree that there should be a heavier focus on basketball. That's where a couple different players can make a huge difference, and building a winning program should be a little more straightforward. You'd think that's the case at least. For whatever reason, USC hasn't had a consistent program since the 70s.

I would disagree that it needs to come at the expense of football though. Emphasize both!
