How much will every player earn?

Does anyone have the number for the basic payment that will be made to players? I assume a player receives payment for making the roster. Am I wrong? If he does what is the amount?

Is the payment different for recruits, 1st, 2nd, third, etc. year players.

I am not asking what the players each earn. I assume a QB or starter will earn more in NIL.

Other schools are doing it. I imagine Penn State does too.
I am not sure how the schools can pay actual salary to players. Are we talking about them being employees - i.e. state of PA employees and separating from the athletic department? If they are students and actually just get compensated, I assume Title IX will come into play and ALL athletes will need to get the same comp. Obviously, this is not NIL, but pay to play. NIL is about the individual, not the group being equal. Pure NIL will have the most famous players getting the most, and $0 for people nobody has heard of. Nothing wrong with a gigantic gap between the top and bottom - that is what NIL is about. Seeking some kind of equal funding means it is pay to play.

I do not think most schools are going to be able to fund sports where everyone is getting a substantial base comp. The cost of attendance has been a tough pill for many, and hard to imagine this not taking down a few school' sports programs.

I know there was a company in the Miami area that was going to give every football player a monthly amount, I think it was something like $600/month.

I believe everyone gets something. What they call it I don’t know.
This was proposed at one time, I don't know if the athletes are actually receiving he stipends.

We’re #1! (But I‘m not happy with that out-of-state tuition. Only third. We need to get it up.)

My response to you was due to your thread being ..... just a random thought without any context or background. It was just odd.
I’ll make sure to send you an explanatory note before posting so as to avoid this in the future.

On second thought, no I won’t. You just chose to be a jerk as you often do.

This number appears to be treated like a state secret. You have people on this thread acting like it is off base to ask about these mystical payments.

If payments were close to $5,000 7 years ago I would wager they are significantly higher now. With all the changes they may well be structured entirely differently.

Pretty sure they just raised tuition 5% or 10% for in and out of state students.

I don't have the latest data at hand but I think that you mean this. Some 2020 numbers here.
Thank you.

I do not see the “cash” payment (stipend?) amount. If you do let me know.

Some people in this thread post dumb responses as though players have not been receiving payments.

There should be an amount paid by players for facility upgrades.

PSU's most recent number is $5,062.

Thank you. Do you know if this is supplemented by other payments funded through other sources of funds?
There is something called an "academic bonus" that the NCAA allows. Max is $5,980. Last time I looked PSU wasn't on the list of schools that intended to pay it.

Do you know if these groups formed to exploit NIL for Penn State players are going to funnel any of the $ they raise to the players who make the roster? By this I mean every player getting some basic payment?

I don’t understand why some posters find it offensive to even ask these questions, as though $ are not going into player pockets “legally” under the current system?

They shouldn't. NIL requires the exchange of some good or service, not merely participation in a sport.

How about a team picture in my company catalog with “we are the team balogna for Penn State football” Would that count?

I believe it does. But if PSU logos are involved then they will want their pound of flesh too
As sluggo suggests, that would work, but the company would have to get PSU's permission to use its name, any logos, and probably even the uniforms. Penn State guards that stuff more closely than it does the recipe for Barron's onion dip.

So you get the team in generic uniforms, (imagine that!) and you place a caption under the pic that says “When we football players get hungry we eat Dave’s olive loaf and head cheese!” I like it.

yes you can do that, but each athlete has to tell the school about that. There is an app that helps the athletes keep track of everything, communicate with the school, and even helps them with their taxes.
Went to an NIL meeting for people who might want to hire Marshall U athletes. They reviewed what was happening and how to do it right. My friend is the track and XC coach, he needed somebody to fill out his table. They did feed us lunch.
