How surprised will you be if we don't make a regional?

I wouldn't be surprised at all, with how poor we ended the season, 5 losses in 7 games. I hope we do get in, however.

None. I don't think we have much chance to win one, but we'll definitely be playing in one.

Top conference in the nation.
Top 25 RPI and SOS.
Winning record.
Made the SEC tournament in Hoover.
5-5 in the last ten games.

The only question is going to be #2 seed or #3 seed. RPI-wise, we rate as a #2 seed but we're not ranked in the polls.

but there are 16 2 seeds. and some teams (aub, uga, not sure what's the deal with asu) that are in the top 32 rpi-wise probably or at least may not be eligible for postseason play. i'd say we are a low 2 or high 3. i'd take a high 3 with a weaker host rather than being a 2 with a national seed.

Arizona State is expected to play in the regionals. Their appeal is not expected to be ruled on until later.

Auburn, if they make the regionals, is a likely 3-seed based on their record and RPI rating (currently #36).

Georgia rates as a 2-seed RPI wise but their record will likely disqualify them from consideration-- since they have to not only beat Auburn but win at least two more games after that.

I'd like to be a 3-seed at a weaker host too... but I'm kind of thinking the option there would be going to Connecticut (I wouldn't be surprised if the Huskies hosted and got a 2-seed) and even then, there'd likely be a 1-seed like, say, Pac-10 regular season winner Oregon State as the 1-seed.

I mean, especially in baseball, it can be pretty scattered and biased. (See Baseball America's poll)

But, maybe they do.

...even though the Bulldogs rate a 2-seed according to the RPI, the fact we've been unranked the whole season plus our conference placement makes me think that a 3-seed would not be surprising.

but anyway....A Low 3 seed would be a bad spot because you will likely be at a TOP 8 host. Because even if you pull the upset, you would still likely travel for a Super. But a low 2 at a Top 8 gives you a shot if you win it.

2 plays 3 so all else being equal, makes no difference.

If these seniors do not hit the ball where gloves aren't it doesn't matter what seed we are. It will be 2 & out. Because our pitching is not going to win a 3-2, or 4-3 game. Not going to happen unless we draw Alcorn or South Carolina State or Howard.

The best 3 seeds go to the best 1 seeds. Just like 1 seeds in the basketball tournament play 8 or 9 in the second round, the absolute best 1 seeds in the baseball tournament will be matched up with the worst 2 seeds and best 3 seeds.<div>
</div><div>Of course, other factors such as geography and avoiding conference matchups come into play as well. I remember Ole Miss fans fuming when they were sent to #1 Miami for a regional a couple years ago, and they just couldn't get it through their heads that it theoretically meant the committee viewed them as the top 3 seed.</div>

miracles like the last time to Omaha only happen once in a life time... we will go, get our asses kicked by 2 better programs that get half the quality practice time due to weather and go home...
