Well, technically it would be Doc firing Polk and not Byrne. I wouldn't put that past Doc, especially if the NCAA happens to find something and the alumni are pissed. I think a lot of it is going to depend on how we play against Ole Miss. If Polk wins that series, that will cool things off for a little while. Getting swept would be really bad for Polk. The good thing for Polk is we play them at home, but the bad thing is we play them in about a week in a half, and that probably isn't enough time to straighten our pitching out. Beyond that, how we do in the SEC and if we go to a Regional <Internet laugh> and the SEC Tournament will factor into that decision at the end of the year.
IF all the above happens, which is not out of the realm of possibility, I expect a messy divorce at the end of the baseball season, and we will be looking at the Regionals for potential replacements for The Legend before settling on the obvious, Cohen. Right before all that happens, I expect Cleveland to write his "MSU fans shouldn't fire Polk" article including the "MSU can't find someone as good as Polk to take the job" gem.
This will be followed by Polk being named the head coach of IUPUI so that he can conveniently ***** to the NCAA.
