State has never had any sort of stable logo ever so saying one logo is THE logo is just conversation.
Do you agree that's a problem?

And I'd retort by saying we've now had the M-State for over a quarter century. It's been modified and looks damn good, and is the official university logo. Why change this?

ETA: We also went away from these. Why???

I’ve seen recently the Mississippi State logo (2nd logo on the right) on letterhead from MSU.

I disagree with this, in a long-term, general sense. You don't see many teams that succeed at super high levels that don't understand the importance of branding.

I'm sure some of you will point out the exceptions to the rule. It's small time thinking. A lot of things add up to winning and changing perception of your program and school. If anything, we are proof of that, the M-State was there during our ascension over the past 20 years. Our baseball specific branding is another piece of evidence.
You gotta love Goat. Not only does he offer his opinion, but he preemptively questions any future poster’s thinking ability that may disagree with him.
While I agree the brand and success go hand in hand it is the success that establishes the brand.
I’m sure your big time thinking examples are all going to be teams with 60 years of sustained success. Of course they are not going to change their brand because it’s easily recognizable, represents success, and it part of a sport whose fanbase deeply cares about tradition. If we stayed with the Banner M this whole time, I don’t forsee us having any more wins or being significantly more recognizable today.

It's indicative of bigger issues, at a minimum.

The bigger issue being not winning enough.

The logo associations and what people like equates to wins. When I see the interlocking MSU I think about the late 90s football teams. When I see the early form of the Banner M I think of Croom, when I see the M-State logo I think of the Mullen years. Why do you think people like M-State and the interlocking?

Personally the only one I don’t really like is Banner M. I think it’s very generic. Other than that it’s not that big of an issue to me. I’m not jumping off of buildings over logos.

That's fine. Why is M-State being taken out of athletics in favor of &tate? Why is interlocking not on the helmet, in favor of &tate? Make it make sense.

Everybody has different logos, different uniforms, etc. But it's a good move to have that strong, overarching symbol, and it's best if it is also the official university emblem. And that doesn't have to go on the helmet either (LSU, Bama, countless other examples).

You may not care, but the point here is that you have to try pretty hard to 17 this up as badly as we do. And it DOES matter. Many out of staters can pick out that M-State. None know WTF &tate is. Just all so pointless.
