I don't blame Spencer

Not one bit. The dude has been a warrior this year and has taken a ruthless beating on the field. He's popped up every single time without betraying even an ounce of frustration towards his atrocious OL. Not once has he even hinted that the OL is primarily to blame and has accepted blame for sacks, even when it's not the case. He's been only the glimmer of light for this team throughout the season. Were the 3 intentional groundings bad? Yeah. That shouldn't happen, and he'd be the first to tell you that. It was completely uncharacteristic of his play this season. But he's been picking the team up ALL season long. It was one game where he needed the team to pick him up. It's a high bar when you're expected to play essentially flawless football every down of every game in order for you team to have even a slight chance of winning.

We are very lucky to have landed him, and Beamer should be given a lot of credit for that. I think his leadership and how he approaches the game will be felt far after he leaves. Seems like every time he goes off the field he's right there with Sellers going through what just happened, good or bad.

I'm agreeing with all this, but what are you not blaming him for, the IG'S ?

Yes, referring to the IGs (though the latter statement by 92 is accurate as well). Just doing a bit of reading on the game and some cited the IGs as the turning point since A&M scored on all 3 ensuing drives. Were they costly mistakes by Rattler, sure? But, geez, help the guy out the one time he struggles a bit.

I think of next year at qb and I don't feel so good. The young kid has promise but lacks experience. True he looked good against Furman and I'm hoping that was a true indicator of his ability. Hoping for the best.

Thise IG's were bad plays, but a portion, if not a large portion, of the blame lays on the OL, imo.

Well next season, we start with Old Dominion, so he'll have one game to get his feet wet. After that, I'm certain the SEC will screw us by setting us up with a trip to Oklahoma, to Bama, and then LSU (home) to start the season. Yeah, that sounds about right.

That is certainly true. Spencer has just handled it so well all season long, I think it looked extra bad for him to appear to lose awareness and get the IGs. But, again, he's made so many dadgum plays this year, it's just hard to expect him to play flawlessly when he's under duress on most snaps.

It's a built-in excuse for next year, though. "Hey, we're young at QB..."

He is really carrying this team, almost single handedly at time.

And the OC. Why not give Rattler a hot route safety valve when getting that type of pressure - at least there would be a receiver in the area for throw aways and no IG.

Screens, draws and roll the qb out. Should be a large portion of our offense too.

I am just going off memory. I remember rolling Rattler early, and the commentators complimenting our staff on it. I don't remember it much past the early phase, nor the screens and draws.

But I was drowning sorrows at that point.

Thank you. Those are plays, not game plans anyway. Which brings me to this...

We have the most timid, cautious receivers in the league aside from Juice and XL, complimented by the most unimaginative passing offense in the league. Maybe vice versa. It is damn frustrating to watch our receivers run out and then tippy toe into the break, followed by skipping around if they're not immediately open, which yields the throwaways. And the patterns themselves are like there is no plan, no intelligence at all behind them; they're like vanilla flavored vanilla. I'm not sure they would.t be more successful just drawing stuff up in the huddle.
