I would love for one of our coaches to receive interest from big time programs because that means we are doing something right. But not after a damn 5-7 season. Woe is me - only at MSU.

Sherrill left Pitt to coach at Washington State for one year. Then, when Johnny Majors went to Tennessee, Sherrill began his legendary career of taking the traditional second schools and whipping the asses of the so-called Flagship Universities, which is the real reason the NCAA was always on his case.

and if Dan takes the job, I'll certainly have no hard feelings. It says a ton about Dan that the large majority of Florida fans I've seen comment on him in these first few hours seem to have no problem with him getting the job. The guys at EDSBS even say he's their first choice.

The timing definitely sucks, though.

Can we at least get a winning season out of him first?

Geez.

On another note, several UF fans of my acquaintance told me when we hired CDM, "no great loss, we weren't that crazy about him anyway."

Fanbase oracale wisdom surely factors into the AD's evaluation of potential successors, no?

to open our wallets.
Whether it's Mullen or somebody else we are going to have to pay...besides just ticket cost.

Price of living in the SEC.

I heard the same thing RCD. Even at this year's game, we were talking to some Florida fans who asked how we liked Mullen. I said that he had made the team much more competitive and the group consensus of those Gator fans was that Mullen would do just that...make us competitive and nothing more. I believe he could have made us an occasional contender for the West, but at the least, consistently bowl eligible.

I doubt Mullen will get serious consideration for the Florida job. They can have anyone they want. They won't choose a HC with one year of experience and a 5-7 record. But, to keep him, we will have to pony up financially even more as Mullen gets more wins. Stadium expansion and facilities improvements will need to be a steady ongoing process.
