I don't know all of the names that you're talking about, but I assume that they are recruits that you expect to be here. I don't know if they will get here or not. But if they do they will never get a chance to play with Sidney, because he's gone next year whether he gets to play this year or not.

Deville Smith
Rodney Hood
Johnny O'Bryant
Tyler Adams
LaQuinton Ross

How many of these 5 do you think we land in 2011 class?

I feel like we will get Smith and Hood for sure, and hopefully we can get O'Bryant. If we can't get O'Bryant then I think we go after Adams as a backup plan to O'Bryant. Thought that I had heard that it could be tough to land Ross though.

If we happened to land all five of the above mentioned players then this would be our version of the fab freshman 5. And would be at least a top 5 recruiting class maybe the #1 class in the nation in 2011. Damn that would be awesome.

Sindey will never play with the 2011 class. Hell it looks more and more like he will never even play at MSU.

I don't think Adams is a backup plan to anybody. I think we'll go hard after O'Bryant, Adams, Hood, Smith, and Mychal Ammons. I don't think we'll get LaQuinton Ross, and from what I've heard, I don't know that that's a bad thing.

get to play this year and will stay at least 2 years.

He has to play good enough to go to the NBA. He's not automatic.

Coach Stansbury likes Adams as much as he likes O'Bryant and is recruiting both. He said that Adams' best years are ahead of him. I have seen both and they are two different players. Adams is a true low post player that will be the physical presence similar to the big guy from Alabama a couple of years ago while O'Bryant is more of a quick and explosive post. His turn around jumper is as quick as Rasheed Wallace.

I had just not heard much about Adams.
  • 2011 recruits
  • PF Johnny O'Bryant 6'9" 215
  • SF Rodney Hood 6'6" 175
  • C Tyler Adams 6'8" 235
  • PG Deville Smith 5'11" 165
  • SF Mychal Ammons 6'4" 200
  • SF LaQuinton Ross 6'7" 185

And keep in mind that all six of these guys are only juniors this year. Hopefully they will all hit the weight room hard in the offseason and some of them could even add an inch or two in height. And now for my dumb question of the day. How many players can we have on scholarship at one time? Is it 12? Now I know that we more than likely only land maybe 4. I believe that we have a legit shot at getting 4 of these 6, but if we could somehow get 5 of these recruits then that would have to be the best class that Stans has ever brought in at once.

Looking at the current roster. In 2011 the following scholarship players would still be on campus barring transfers or injuries or defections: Guards: Bost, Beckham, Smith, Bryant Forwards: Osby, Lewis, Bailey, Riek

I am probably leaving someone out, but it appears that we will be in big need of a pure SG especially the year after. Hopefully Shaun Smith will have all of his injuries behind him and Bryant will turn out to be a solid player. I know that this is a long way off, but I am very excited about the 2011 class and just wanted to see some of your thoughts as their are plenty of people that are more knowledgable on this than I am. Also, just wanted to take a break from THE CAM.

I normally don't look ahead and just focus on the season at hand, but it is hard not to get excited about the 2011 MS talent.

According to Scout.com, we've offerd him along with Georgia.

The main guys that we are going after are:

1. Deville Smith (stock rising fast; dropped 38 at Rupp against Oak Hill with Calipari watching)
2. Johnny O'Bryant (USA national team member; top 10 national recruit; offers from everyone)
3. Tyler Adams (MSU lean; Coaches believe his upside is more than O'Bryant; according to Rivals, offers from MSU, Florida, Oklahoma)
4. Rodney Hood (6-7 SG/SF; Former MSU bball player Ricky Hood's son; Florida/MSU battle; sweet left-handed stroke)

Edited to say: LaQuinton Ross is another possible Sidney situation. He has a handler around him that will cause problems wherever he goes and the word is getting out. MSU will recruit him, but he'll spend a year in prep school because his grades are horrible at Murrah.

Deville Smith can get up for a 5'11" guy. He dunked on a guard that was running down the floor with him. His size was always a concern but he appears athletic enough to overcome that.

FWIW I was at the game last night in Jackson and saw Deville Smith and Tyler Adams there behind the MSU bench. I also saw the top 2012 player 6'7" SF Devonta Pollard of Kemper County there as well.

Add Rodney Hood to the players that you listed and that makes 7 players that we will be going after.

Damn the 2011 class of MS recruits is loaded. If we could pull 5 of the 7 listed then it would be the best class in MSU history. Land 6 and just wow. All 7 is unthinkable, however I really don't see us getting all 7. If we were able to get all 7 then there would definitely be some players politely asked to continue their basketball careers elsewhere. I'm hoping for 5 of these 7 and would not be disappointed with 4 or 5 of them at all. Future looks bright. Just seems like we need a SG unless one of these recruits can play the SG position.

Hopefully will be fully recovered next year and could be the pure SG that we are counting on, bc he will be a redshirt sophomore when the 2011 class are freshman.

Just Wow

Edit: And it's not unrealistic to think that 2 to 3 of 4 stars will be upgraded to 5 star prospects next year.

I've seen him once in AAU and he was the best player on the floor by far. Think Zimmerman-like athletic ability.

But with much better ball-handling skills
