I work at Baptist golden triangle so I’m biased. Baptist does a great job of putting money into their individual hospitals and expanding services to allow care and services to be rendered there rather than be transferred to a larger Baptist hospital. Baptist recently bought Anderson in Meridian and they have been pleased with the outcomes. Historically, NMMC has funneled most things through Tupelo to build it up to compete with larger hospitals in the state. In general that comes with either cutting services or not providing new services to the smaller hospitals so they don’t compete with the mothership’s volume. Different business models with different goals.
Those Meridian hospitals are archaic. Rush, Riley and Jeff Anderson all need makeovers big time.

Isn't Rush owned by Ochsner now? If it is, I'm wondering if they'll do anything for/to it. And isn't Riley some kind of specialty hospital now?

Riley is part of Anderson's and is a specialty hospital. Anderson's is part of Baptist now and Rush is owned by Ochsner

Doesn’t NMMC have a branch in West Point? I think I’d rather have Baptist. NMMC likes to harvest body parts.

I think Baptist would be the better group and tried to buy OCH in the past , but the Oktibbeha County Supervisors kept it from happening around 2018.
The supervisors didn't keep it from happening, the voters of the City of Starkville kept it from happening in 2017/2018. They circulated petitions and ran ads against it. They got enough signatures on the petition which meant there was a voter referendum and the citizens voted a sale of the facility down overwhelmingly. This time there was no opposition from any entities i.e. petitions/referendums at all so it has progressed. The latest article last week said that potential buyers could look at it and interview employees until late March I believe and that a decision would be made by first week in May.

As a Stark-villian I hope it is Baptist too but I don't get a say so. The Supervisors hired Raymond James Investments to do a feasibility study on it and they said it couldn't go on as was. They made recommendations and assisted in the RFP process along w/ MSU, the City, county supervisors, and present employees in drawing up the RFP that was just completed. I'm hopeful but we'll see. They limited the potential buyers by specifying how much capital the potential investor had to bring to the table in order to bid and wanted to see a plan for increasing patients, recruiting staff, facility improvements etc and said it won't be top bidder but best bidder
