I have just read Veazey's blog with Coach Polk's comments. I also watched John Cohen's press conference.

I first want to say that I do not personally know John Cohen. As he said in his press conference, he never got to attend alumni games and that is where I would have had a chance to meet him. I do know Tommy and have had conversations with him and he has always been outstanding to me. I like him very much.

Coach Polk's comments are sad. I understand his frustration, but as I have posted on this site before, I thought he handled this situation horribly if his goal was to get Raffo in place. I think he did a disservice to Tommy and MSU in this instance. To be fair, he might of had agreements in place with LT so the game changed on Coach Polk also. Maybe that is why he felt that way. We all know he is not scared to voice his opinion and he is going to do it.

With all that said, I think AD Byrne did the absolute correct thing in doing a full search. Time will tell, as in all coaching hires, if he made the right choice. John is a valid and proper choice for MSU Baseball. He has a positive track record in successful baseball. MSU is a top 10 Baseball job in the country and they should have the ability to hire a proven candidate as they have done.

I hope Tommy now goes on and gets a great head coaching job and prepares himself as John Cohen has done over the years.

So I hope John goes on to lead us to 6 NCs and we can get ahead of LSU.

He's asking YOU to disassociate yourself and turn your back on the the program.

And if Polk reads your comments he will never speak to you again, unless it is to beg you to withdraw all your support from the baseball program.

You are right, it is sad. For a man I admired throughout the 80s and early 90s I hate to see him go out so bitter.

I just have to laugh. Just as MSU baseball is bigger than anyone who has played there, it is bigger than anyone who has coached there. It is the hearts of the people that love the team that make it what it is. The coaches and players have helped grow that number no doubt. Coach Polk has helped tremendously. I like to think I helped some. But it is those people in the LFL and Chairbacks and bleachers that make MSU Baseball. That is what causes the school to make it's commitment.

I wanted Polk to go out in style. I wanted him to have a grand send off, recognition, instant MSU HOF induction, and all that. After all he's done for MSU it is sad his departure hasn't been pretty. And I'm sad for Polk that he's taking it all so hard.

for each occasion. They are not even MSU Baseball cards, like the card I get from the Mets each Christmas. They are different cards each time. He is amazing on his commitment to MSU Baseball and always has been.

and white and was told that Polk still sends him the hand written cards 3 times a year. Truly someone dedicated to his players.

BTW Bruce, you had a lot to do with building the MSU program. You guys in the 70's and early 80's built what is MSU baseball. Yes, Polk was the foundation, but he couldn't have done it without players like you and several others I could name.

You are a gentleman. This is sad and it hurts for all of us. We were there in overlapping years and my respect for Polk at that time was greater than most coaches that I had ever worked with. His passion and genius in the 70 and 80's was impressive..... and just seemed to drift as his attention turned to NCAA and Team USA.

I hope that Coach Polk gets a FULL medical exam and a body scan. Something is just not right.

Give my regards to Heino.

about the guys in the 70's and 80's building MSU baseball into what it is. It goes all the way back to Willie Mitchell, Dudy Noble, to RP Patty, to Paul Gregory, Ron Polk, and Pat McMahon, and ALL the players that played for them.
