I know I may be over reacting, but we may not win an SEC series this year

at best. It's early, but we need to improve alot before next weekend. The Rebs are going to sweep us for sure, because they are a very good hitting ballclub right now. Long season ahead.

..saying we wouldn't win 7 SEC games all year. So anything can happen. Though, obviously right now this team has a long way to go to be competitive in the SEC. ULAR ended the game by K-ing the side with Goforth watching the last pitch.

that you are overreacting. However, it's almost impossible not to win ONE SEC series. One thing is for sure, we have to score at least 10 runs for a good chance to beat ANYBODY.

series. Baylor, Ole Miss, and South Carolina.

The best we can expect with this squad is that they grow up quick and don't miss Hoover.

And I cut off the OM/UT basketball game thinking we would win 10 SEC games and be a 4 or 5 seed in the NCAA tourney. Things change but I wouldn't trade places with you.

As stated last year by many on this board, going to the CWS may not have been the best thing to happen to the baseball program. It damn sure isn't looking good for this year.

Our basketball team lost close games to NCAA tourney quality teams, our baseball team is losing games to teams they should beat 23-2.

It's a long way from April to September....at least we have each other here at sixpackspeak. :)

I DO fear that O's collapse in the Egg Bowl will actually hurt us in the long run. O is still there if not for the collapse and Ole Miss is looking at another ****** season. It really helps when your in-state rival blows. Additionally, almost everyone is sold on Croom. I'm leaning towards liking the Old Walrus too (not his offense). If we lost the Egg Bowl, the majority of State fans would have gone apeshit and would be willing to fire Croom if he only gets 4 wins this year. Now, in my opinion, Croom still has his job even if we only win 1. Now, I don't think that will happen, I think we go bowling. I just don't feel like Croom has earned his job security YET while the majority does. That scares me.

in basketball. So, I have decided to try to stop having "I think it's going to turn out this way..." thoughts. Every time I have those thoughts, there is more and more evidence of my stupidity. It's all over the place -- my prediction on SEC basketball play, my prediction on the football record, and just about every damn game I post a prediction on. Trust me guys -- when I get stupid and post a prediction, bet the farm the other way.

your basketball team is peaking at the right time and is going to make the NCAA tourney with a really good shot to do some damage. So for at least the next 3 weeks, maybe 4, you'll have basketball to look forward to and discuss. For us, our basketball team has tanked, so we need our baseball to be not sucking, so that we can ignore the basketball team.

And I don't think your baseball team is as bad as they've shown. I think talent is there. I just think it'll take them a little while to get the kinks worked out and get some of the young guys in their best roles. Fortunately for us, we get to play you before you've had too much of a chance to work out your issues. And the good news for you is that you'll probably get a lot of it settled around the same time that your basketball season ends.

I dont think our pitchers hit the zone on anything but fastballs, which showed today with the bombs UALR hit. Any yeah Goforth does nothing but hit a slow chopper to the left side and hopes he can out run it

the 4 years before that?

The bottom line is that with Ron Polk, you can predict mediocrity and you have an 80% chance of being right if you look at the last five years.

Whoa, wait a minute here. Going to the CWS last year was bad for us? I see where you're going, but I beg to differ. Because by hosting the SR we showed other college coaches what kind of fanbase we could potentially have, what kind of facilities we have, and we also showed the rest of the country what we have at MSU. Plus, by going to the CWS last year we showed that we have some decent players, many of whom will be back next year as well. That's got to be attractive to a LOT of coaches around the country. The CWS and SR last year could help us land a coach that is motivated to take us to the next level.

So, even if we have a losing season, it's not like we're that far removed from success and that MSU baseball likely won't be a 12 year rebuilding project.

Also, the old regime is out at MSU, so we'll see how trigger happy Byrne is. MSU baseball has the most tradition of any of the sports and is the crown jewel of MSU athletics. We won't wait for Polk to have three crappy seasons to wait to see if he can turn it around. I imagine Byrne would like to make a signature move, and hiring Cohen could be that move for him.
