I know we have our own problems but

I'm enjoying the recognition of the "Dabo Mentality" and the criticism that goes with it as he is being humbled.
Our problems are evident as we try to work our way up, but coming down is a different story due to EXPECTATIONS.

Klatt said the failure to adapt for a coaching staff can happen on the field and it can happen off the field.
“I think it’s clear, painfully, that Clemson has both failed to adapt on and off the field. Dabo is unapologetically against NIL and the transfer portal. Completely against it. Will not embrace it. He has been so public against it that it’s going to end up hurting him, because the fanbase, if you’re a Clemson fan you’re like, ‘Hold on, you can’t play Monopoly and decided on your own that you’re not going to buy any houses on property you own because you don’t think it’s right.’ While everybody else buys houses. You’re gonna lose. There’s no other way around that.”

Yep. I think his stance on the portal is worse. They're using NIL. They just built a facility to help players manage through it.

He always had a similar stance on JUCO guys. That didn't hurt him quite as bad b/c JUCO guys were always hit and miss. But when you're refusing to go after established, quality players it's a different story. He had big issues at the WR and OL positions. He is a firm believe that you don't run a guy off to bring in a transfer. And that's a nice quality to have. But he's the only one playing by those rules. How many coaches' sons are on scholarship there? He brought in a QB transfer...Bear Bryant's grandson...dude has been in college for 5 years and has 4 pass attempts. His scholarship management hasn't been good. The excuse is there weren't any scholarships to give transfers. He should have made room.

Agreed completely on the portal, but he and Clemson are using NIL, so I think those were inadvertently lumped together.

If their season turns out like the first game showed, and I use if because they did pass and rush for 200 yards. Dabo is not all incorrect about that statement. I think since like 2013 or something all NCAA football teams are something like 1700’s to like 46. I know those numbers are loose as I don’t recall the exact numbers but it was like 97ish%. So if they lose a bunch of game I think the pressure will be real to get position coaches changed and to open up the portal. He may have a large buyout but he’s no dummy. Pressure can absolutely be put on him.

Things are hardly ever as bad as they seem. Duke was one game just like UNC is one game. I will interested to see if our o-line allows 9 sacks again. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking on my part.

It is amazing that Dabo is larger than the University. I would think at least 80% of the Clemson fan base disagrees with his philosophy. He is definitely guiding a "sinking ship".

It amazes me that knowone will hint/state that the playing field is leveled now for Clemson since they have been paying for players for the past 10 years, and now everyone can "pay for players"......and if that isn't working for them, get them from the portal, but Dabo refuses to do that......crash and burn....it's fun to watch. They should put 50 on their high school opponent this weekend, wonder what the score will be?

To be honest, I can understand Dabo's stance on the portal. You have guys on the team that started with the team and are team players only to have someone come in that quit on his team for whatever reason. It's not really fair to the players that have been there. You may have a weaker team by not using the portal but if you care about the players that's what you do. It's a double edge sword.

I think everyone understands that. But he’s fighting a losing battle with the way the game is played now.
