I like how Beamer addressed the absence of Levis

Obviously, he was aware this would be a storyline after the game, and I thought he neutered it pretty well, without dismissing Levis' absence as meaningless (because it wasn't).

In his opening statement:
"First of all, we were missing a lot of guys from an injury standpoint, and want them to get healthy."

Then:
"We were short-handed as well. I know they had injuries, so did we, playing without two of our top three safeties as well."

And:
"I know they’re missing their quarterback, but we won seven games with four different starting quarterbacks, so I feel coach Stoops’ pain."

I thought the sunglasses and dancing was Daboesque. But that’s just me.

I loved it and most importantly, the players loved it. For some reason, Beamer’s foolishness is more genuine than Dabo’s . You do know that this dance was in response to a snarky comment Stoop’s made at the SEC meeting, right?

These demonstrations are fun and entertaining - as long as coaches (and their fans) are willing to live with the adverse comeback potential they carry when things go south. Whatever is committed to internet video is never forgotten - and always available.

Unless Google doesn't want you to see it. But that's a different topic.

I think the differences are imperceptible. Both do cultural things for the same reason.
Agreed.

I get the point of both of their actions, the recruits love it, the players love it. That's fine.

I just get uncomfortable mocking someone for doing the same thing my side is doing. And you can bet the other side thinks only they are being authentic and someone is just copying them, etc.

It's really unprovable either way.

Because with Beamer it looks genuine. With Dabo, not so much..

The issue isn’t so much Dabo’s antics as it is that it’s paired with the fact that he’s fake and an prick under the surface. Beamer is authentic.
Do you think our friends in orange think he's not authentic? It all depends on which color sunglasses you are wearing.

I'm going to make fun of their guy and I expect they will make fun of our guy. Isn't that the way it's supposed to work? There's no such thing as hypocrisy in sports - it's make-believe and that's why we love it.

Personally, I favor the Tom Landry model of coaching. But if modeling some of Dabo's clownish behavior is what's necessary to approximate Dabo's level of success, I will gladly hold my nose and get behind it.

I'm not sure how anyone can't see the difference between Beamer and dabo. I'll break it down and make it easy to understand.

COOL

Do you have any idea how much $$$$ Dabo raised for breast cancer wearing that pink suit. Not a good choice for things to make fun of him about. Lose someone to breast cancer and you may change your mind

I'm glad the coaches and players got a win over a ranked team and had some fun afterwards. I like Beamer and his attitude. He appears to find joy in coaching his (and our) team at his (and our) school. Join in the fun! It feels a lot better than the constant negativity.
