I am driving 3 miles to my mother's house. She is having 22 people, and this will probably be the last one she hosts. She wants to move to assisted living next year (she is 83). She just lost her brother, and her remaining sister (out of a family of 10 kids) lives outside the US and isn't able to make the trip home. By this time next year, a lot will probably have changed with the family dynamic.

Yeah.....enjoy these moments with your family. Never take these for granted.

My siblings and I were having a texting conversation regarding the Thanksgiving snowstorm of 1971. Anyone recall this? We were driving from NW Ohio to Rebersburg and on our climb of the Madisonburg Mountain we got stuck. Sealtest milk truck pulled us up and over around 3:00 am.

Yeah, it’s always rough to be the last of the siblings. Note to self: be extra nice to your Aunt Mary today. She graduated Saint Mary’s in South Bend; it will be nice to see her trash talk my daughter, who graduated USC. Mary used to be CEO of St. Agnes Hospital in Fresno and would see the ND-USC game every time it was played in LA.

I remember a couple of big storms in Southwest PA, Somerset county.
The one I remember most of as 1974 and started Thanksgiving weekend. Started off as freezing rain and then thunder snow.
I know my sister had to call Penn State to tell them she couldn’t get back in time. I guess it was for spring Registration. We had no power for a week and the turnpike was closed. Although closing the PA pike from Donnegal to Breezewood happens a lot.
I also remeber many a snowy rides back to Stare college over Cresson Mt and Ebensburgh on Rt 22.

your timing (or the holiday's timing) was pretty poor. The fall was unusually warm, and unusually dry. Yesterday, while having rain in the am, got up to the low 60s. Alas, it's downhill from there. Today's high is the low 50s, and Thanksgiving is the same temp, but rain. Friday's high will be the mid 40s, and Sat and Sun won't get out of the 30s. Alas, it appears that will be the norm for awhile, as the long-term forecast shows the highs either upper 30s or very low 40s for at least a week.

With all the years you lived in this region, and all your hours on the ski slope, I'd think either your blood could adjust, or you would remember how to dress for non-FL weather. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: Enjoy your holiday.
