drawn the line in the sand regarding the Fancy Yancy vs Rosebowl Robertson battle for the title of village idiot.

Curly Bill says that Yancy is the idiot. If Rosebowl is right about Carlos Thompson commiting to MSU, then Yancy gets to keep his crown as the village idiot. If Carlos commits to OM and Yancy is right, Robertson will have to proudly wear the crown as village idiot. (I realize most of us crown both of them as village idiots, but this is more fun.)

Can someone get RonnyAtmosphere to archive this?

With that said, Yancy has a new slanted update on Thompson. I'm sure Rosebowl will have an update soon that paints MSU in a similar favorable light. What I really think happens in these cases is that the parents (sometimes the players) give sources from both sides reason to believe that they will commit to their respective schools.

Anyway, here it is...draw your own conclusions.

Well, unfortuantely there are believers here. So I thought I'd throw the disclaimer out before someone put me in the "believing everything Yancy said camp."

..archive recruiting pissing matches between messageboard retards.

I only archive the really good stuff, like when OMlawdog said Mullen was going to bench Dixon half way into the season, because Dixon wasn't going to fit into Mullen's spread offense.

Or like when you said if MSU fired Croom, it would cause national race riots to break out.

while Rosebowl is wrong a lot, he would have to be wrong the next 69,000 times he predicted anything to catch up with Yancy's retarded ***.

I have read where Rosebowl said Thompson is 75% to MSU. He never said he's going to commit to MSU. I haven't seen Yancy say Thompson is going to commit, but the way he asks questions makes people answer them favorably to MSU. The way Thompson's dad talks about the depth chart obviously leads one to believe he will probably commit to Mississippi and he's butt buddies with Martin and Bennet.

Personally, I want Sanders. We have a ton of young talented D-linemen. A vertical deep threat WR is what we need, although our lack of the deep threat is due largely to the fact of our abisimal QB play over the last 6 years.

Rosebowl said Thompson is 75% to MSU. He never said he's going to commit to MSU.

Technically neither did Yancy, but if Yancy said a player was 75% to Ole Miss, then you'd claim he was predicting a commitment. Yancy's an idiot, but he doesn't often say a player is going to commit unless he knows he's going to commit. He'll say he thinks Ole Miss is the leader or something similar to that. Other than that, I can't really believe I'm responding to this GenesPage/Spirit argument.

But ombd is right about one thing, both seem to think Thompson is about a 75% chance for their particular school. One is right. One is wrong. My guess is that at this point, both have reason to believe they are right based on their sources. My guess is Thompson doesn't know yet either way, and whichever one is proven right will be by pure chance.

And Yancy says 70% Thompson to OM.

What's the difference?

It's very rare for either guy to say he thinks a recruit is a lock for their school before he commits.

Point is...both guys are confident that they are right about Thompson.

Yancy has never said either were private commits. The two commits that he alluded to a week ago have been made public: Evans and Martin. He has said, like Robertson, that Thompson was a heavy lean to Ole Miss, and that he believes Sanders will sign with Ole Miss.

....so Rosebowl has put his *** on the line 5% more than Yancy. Therefore, if Thompson commits to Ole Miss, Rosebowl is 5% more of a dumbass than Yancy woudl be if Thompson commited to State. Get it?

Rosebowl said Robert Johnson WOULD be a bulldog and he also has said that Well WILL be a bulldog. That's two in this class. Rosebowl also said Jay Hughes would be a lock for MSU.

That's 3 this class that Rosebowl said. He's 2 for 2 right now. I heard that Yancy was saying that Johnson was a lock for UM. Rosebowl has also said all along Martin was going to be a Mississippi Rebel.

I have said it before, I find Rosebowl to be informative and never leads me on for anything. Whatever I read from Yancy is always BS and swung towards Mississippi. I am not a sheep, I do not post on Jeans Paige or anything, I just like Rosebowl's stuff. He runs camps and what not so he knows talent. I just know Yancy tells stories.

I have read where Rosebowl doesn't even agree with some of our commits right now. He doesn't understand why Antwon Chisolm is coming here and he's questioned Claussell. I personally think Chisolm looks pretty good.

Bottomline, is Rosebowl is a pretty good recruiting guy if you asked me, some guys may think otherwise. And Yancy is a complete bogus idiot and many agree with that.

What it boils down to, is that Robertson is more involved and actually scouts players and TRIES to be objective. Yancy caters to his homers like vinnyvegas and lobbies to scout for more stars. Our class right now is better than Ole Miss to anyone who's seen the guys play, yet theirs is ranked higher. Yancy has gotten the extra star on a number of those guys as soon as he's picked up wind that Ole Miss was recruiting them, he definitely has some pull with Scout.

I mean, it's really not even up for debate.

If so, Yancy called Martin, Bennett, and Dorsey for MS (HS or JUCO) players.

Not that it matters, but two can play this game.

I'm still waiting on someone to tell me where or when, exactly, Yancy said Robert Johnson would commit to Ole Miss or end up at Ole Miss.

Also, anyone who doesn't believe that Steve Robertson doesn't have a LITTLE bias in his rankings that he submits to Scout.com is a homer. This is the same guy that has Curtis Virges, who has offers from USM and MSU, ranked ahead of Bryon Bennett, who has close to 20 offers from all over the country. I readily admit that Yancy has bias in his rankings, as I don't think Bennett is a top 5 player in MS.

Robertson also has probably the top two prospects in all of MS next year as "possibly top 10 players" and the 3rd and 4th best WRs in the state, mostly because they will both likely head to Ole Miss (Nick Brassell and Tobias Singleton).

Yancy is an idiot, but obviously you drink the Kool-Aid if you think he and Robertson are night in day in their approaches. I've seen both Yancy's and Steve's Top 40s for Mississippi, and while I don't have a clue who the best players really are since I'm not evaluating them all, I can tell you for sure that both of the lists are heavily slanted to favor their own school and discredit the other school as much as they can without looking too out of whack with reality.

You have to learn to take recruiting for what it is and understand that any information you get from a FAN site is going to be slanted toward that fanbase. After all, they're trying to sell subscriptions. Saying 'we're getting our *** kicked in recruiting' doesn't sell subscriptions.
