If Kodi stays and assuming JV doesn't go pro, which I doubt happens, this could be a very

very good team next year............

Varnado (c)
Augustus (f)
Ravern Johnon (sf)
Stewart (g)
Bost (pg)

Quality backups.....

In Bailey, Osby, Benock, Turner........

The verdict is still out on Beckham and Holcombe as far as I'm concerned.........

If your presumption ends up correct...

yeah, that's the lineup. Zero doubt in my mind. THAT's a tourney team. Who does Turner come in for? Stewart or Ravern?

or the three.......I think Shaunessy Smith will be red shirted.......We've got guards.......Of course, he might able to play the 3 spot with him being 6'5"........

We might have to keep the RS on Smith as crazy as that sounds. Just too many cooks in the kitchen. Although, if he shows out in preseason, a killer spot shooter off the bench couldn't hurt.

Maybe red-shirt him if he is still hurt, what a novel idea that would be...

a taste of what life will be like as a starter/star next year. He won't transfer to lose out on another year of stardom...

The only way he leaves will be if some agent talks him into going pro...

I keep thinking we could be really, really good too. We'll have so much length and skill if Augustus, Osby, and Ravern come on.

Only problem with that lineup is that Phil should be our 2 guard and Randy should go back to being a role player like he was as a freshman. He's holding back our whole team right now.
The whole reason I like the 4 guard lineup is b/c of what Phil Turner gives us, so why not just put him in at the 2. He's our best all-around player offensively and defensively, and versatility wise IMO. Plus at the 2 he does absolutely everything better than Stewart

Turner should start in his spot and Stewart should come off the bench.

I wouldn't have a problem with starting him at the two guard spot........Randy was definitely a better player coming off the bench anyway, IMO......

No way can we bench Phil Turner. He is providing solid, unselfish leadership that has been missing from this team for a long time.

I too find it amusing that we are going to bench a guy who had 16 points, 14 rebounds and 6 steals today.

http://www.nbadraft.net/2009mock_draft Whats interesting is that if you look on the 2010 Mock Draft, he is the 16th pick. I pretty sure the concensus on him is that he nees another year to improve his offense and gain weight, which is good for State.

...he's a lottery pick if he comes out. I said then and will repeat now...I don't see it. He's too skinny and needs a better post game.

In fact, I don't see him ever being an NBA player. He'll never add the weight and strength to play at that level. Very good college player, but his future is in Europe.

did I say Varnado was a lottery pick if he came out this year...I think its possible he could come out, but highly unlikely....you never know when you are dealing with talents like this and the people they have around them...

But I repeat, I never said Jarvis was a lottery pick THIS YEAR.

I don't really have a problem with Stewart coming off the bench either, but he is a better ball handler at the two and leaving Phil at the 3 gives him more freedom to go in rebound and create as he has shown his is capable of. What I was thinking for next year was...

1) Bost
2) Stewart (good defender, decent on the boards, and has ball handling skills more suited for the 2 than Phil)
3) Turner (can't bench him the way he's been playing of late)
4) Augustus
5) Varnardo

Then you'd have Ravern coming off the bench and giving us someone who could be an offensive spark (ala Timmy Bowers a few years back). I know he's one of our best offensive threats and it would be hard not to start him, but as many have stated his defense and rebounding are pretty suspect at times. He could still give us quality minutes off the bench.

That's a pretty talented first six, I just hope everybody stays and wish we could sign another legitimate big man.

I just think you have to start Turner and Ravern. Looking at that lineup above, Stewart is the one that sticks out to me that should sit. He was better as a role player when he was a freshman.
And to me, Kodi is going to be streaky. I know he's played great lately and everyone is enamored w/ his length, ability to drive and shoot; but I think we'll start to see how inconsistent he is the more he plays and how poor his shot selection might be.

i've said all along somebody may draft him this year to beef him up and get him on their wieght training program- but I have never said he would be a lottery pick THIS YEAR
