Thus losing the series at home to a team that is as bad as were are, Lemonjuice must be fired after Sunday's game.

There's no other option. Let @Bulldog Bruce coach the rest of season (just kidding....sort of).

For this season the money would be a wash as we likely settle the remainder of his contract. You'd have to bump Parker (or whoever the interim is a little). This would give us a couple of months for a real coaching search.

That puts me totally at ease***
Good point. This coaching search will be Salmom's Waterloo. Screw it up and that's his end.

The best football can hope for 4-5 wins, and basketball, we'll likely remain a one-and-done tournament team for the next several years. He has to knock this hire out of the park.

WHO will conduct the search? The answer to that question is absolutely necessary before proceeding

Selmon will. I have little faith in him, but it would be hard not to hire a coach better than Lemonis. And like a blind squirrel, there’s always the chance he lucks into making a good hire.

You can already start the coaching search without firing him.

This hire shouldn’t be just “better than Lemonis”. This athletic department needs a solid hire to inject some optimism into this fanbase. A fanbase who is very weary with losing, lack of effort, excuses, promises, and laziness.

It seems unfathomable that the guy who hired Jeff Lebby would be allowed within 100 miles of the baseball search. Surely the people who have invested the most in the program and who have the highest level of influence over the program will not allow that to happen.

As I have said consistently, the program is in an absolutely terrible situation.

I don’t have much more faith in our msjor boosters than I do in Selmon. Yeah, we’re in a really bad situation.

True. And you can’t fire him without starting a coaching search before portal season unless you fire him soon. So, I say do them both immediately.

Takes pressure off the players and coach’s, allowing them to finish the season in a more fun, possibly more meaningful way. Relieve them of the stress of Lemon, giving them a fair evaluation for whether they can remain on the team or portal for next year. Get ahead of it and set ourselves up for new coach, new team for next year.

I could probably talk Chris Maloney into doing it or maybe Josh Regan could come out of retirement.

This is a good suggestion. Chris probably would not have any interest in the job long term & has a ton of game experience in pro baseball.
Never forget that Chris Maloney kept Will Clark on the bench for about half of the 1983 season.

We need a young energetic hungry coach from a small school that wants to step up to the big time. Not some retread.

Generally the athletic director runs new coach searches. Unless you think Selmon gets fired in the next month or so, it will be him. Besides, we all saw how what happened with an interim AD while Keenum dithered on a new hire.
