If you're the new Texas Tech coach, what do you do about Adam James?

If he doesn't voluntarily leave the team, he's going to create a big distraction next year, and probably split the team to some degree (I can't imagine with 84 other scholarship players that some aren't going to support him and some be pissed he got Leach fired). You can't just cut him, but you really don't want him around either. And if both he and the current WR coach are still around next year, that's going to create another uncomfortable situation.

how about the interim head coach lobbying for the job after the game and taking a blatant shot at Leach..."one thing I can promise you is I will take care of your kids when they come to TT".

Damn.

Way to stab your former boss (and supposed friend) in the back.

passes to Adam James, right over the middle. You wanna be T.O.? Here's your chance, superstar.
And again, the former coaches aren't lining up behind Leach because he was never one of the "cool kids" in the coaching fraternity.

(add this scenario to the dozens of reasons why I couldn't coach)

Mid-afternoon "update": Here's why you can't trust ESPN with this story<span style="margin-left: -51px; margin-top: -57px; opacity: 0.25;" class="smarterwiki-popup-bubble smarterwiki-popup-bubble-active"><span class="smarterwiki-popup-bubble-body"><span class="smarterwiki-popup-bubble-links smarterwiki-clearfix"><span class="smarterwiki-popup-bubble-links-row smarterwiki-clearfix"> </span><span class="smarterwiki-popup-bubble-links-row smarterwiki-clearfix"> </span></span></span></span> (and more on Bob Davie being a world-class dunce)

maybe he was being genuine:

"I'm ready whenever they are,'' McNeill said. "I have a lot of confidence in our administration. I have a lot of confidence in the powers that be who are making the decision. I hope my body of work, not just here at Tech but through my career, speaks for itself.

"I've tried to make sure I've done the right things. I love kids. I promise their parents that I'll take care of their prized possessions - their sons - if they'll let me have them.''

If you could just cut him I think Leach would have done that. Pretty sure he was told he couldn't cut the kid so was probably trying to run him off
