Only one physical landline phone in the house? You can get a used one from Goodwill.LOL. We haven't had a landline in probably 10-15 years. Our house phone went bad one day and never replaced it. We had caller ID show up on the TV, but couldn't answer.
Why do we even have a marching band these days?
I'm old - 70 - liked lights/volume, but overdone. First game OK, going forward use sparingly.

The Atmosphere was the Best I've seen in a long long time, the speaker system and The lights were amazing ... Hope it's like that every time we take the field...TEAMS-Never Quit!!! Gooo Gamecocks!!!Just saw a clip online. Hard to tell if it was a football stadium or a discoteque.
Went to my first college football game in a long time this past season and was surprised at how much extra noise there was. They could not allow a half second that wasn't filled with some kind of music or announcement or just random noise.
I'm sure the lights will be a hit with recruits and young folk.
I am with you, but the kids think it is cool. They are who the lights are for, not us old fogies. If you are over 35 to them, you are old. Enjoy the games, ignore the lights.Just saw a clip online. Hard to tell if it was a football stadium or a discoteque.

We never used it anyway, if i can remember. We just used our cell phones.Plus it was long distance to call my mom and brother that only lived 4 miles away.Didn't want to pay extra when i can just use my cell phone.Only one physical landline phone in the house? You can get a used one from Goodwill.
We've had lights at the stadium for night games since the 50's. Why do you think these lights are more likely to go out than the ones we've had the previous 60 years?I hope they have a backup plan when all those flashing lights mess up and they can’t get the game lights back on.
Damn I’ll be glad when all these old farts flame burn out !I didn’t make it to the first game, so can’t really make a judgement.
I’m one of the younger guys in this forum and I know I’m a stark minority but haven’t really liked what I’ve seen of the lights. I do like the garnet lights and think those are nice, but could do without all the strobes and flashing (I.e. during sandstorm etc). There’s just a time and a place in my opinion. It’s a football game not a concert.
I hope they scale it back.
I understand why they go all out for the recruits though
I'm talking about when they are during a time-out, etc. and they got the lights flashing.I saw a few times while i was at work trying to watch when they got a dark red, wouldn't be funny (or would it?) if they got stuck like that, and they had to stop play because they couldn't get the game lights back on.We've had lights at the stadium for night games since the 50's. It’s because people party 4-6 hours before the game outside of the stadium and get liquored up, and now they don’t have to stop as we sell alcohol in the stadium…Yes. And, is it just me or have manners gone by the wayside? Used to be most were more considerate of others. I started noticing people being more aggressive. Standing most of the game and to hell with the ones seated behind them. Projectile cursing regardless of women and children. Made watching from home preferable
Long distance? Does that still exist? We never used it anyway, if i can remember. We just used our cell phones.Plus it was long distance to call my mom and brother that only lived 4 miles away.Didn't want to pay extra when i can just use my cell phone.
I guess it depends on the cost. I sign up for YouTube tv during college football season for that reason alone.Sooner or later the ESPN Fox will be coming up with packages to watch football games just like the NFL. These media rights companies are paying these schools a lot of money to broadcast their games and advertising revenue is not going to be enough to cover these costs. You will probably see this in the next year or so. So buckle up and get ready it is coming. I have a friend who is in the media rights profession and that is what I am hearing. How do you think all these schools build these stand alone football facilities, pay high salaries for coaches.
It did back when we had a house phone.idk about today. We had a 892(Gilbert) and my mom had a 532(leesville),it's only about 4 miles between our houses and it was long distance.Long distance? Does that still exist?
I think we have unlimited calling throughout the US and Canada through Comcast.
Take it u never dated a band member?…….they’re beasts I tell ya, beasts! Why do we even have a marching band these days?

I remember travelling from Columbia to Pittsburgh in 1989 or some such and had to change planes at the Raleigh-Durham airport. There were payphones throughout the facility - some designated as local calls to Raleigh, some to Durham, and some to Chapel Hill.It did back when we had a house phone.idk about today. We had a 892(Gilbert) and my mom had a 532(leesville),it's only about 4 miles between our houses and it was long distance.
And Sandstorm doesn't need to be playing when we're down by 4 or more scores.I'd agree. I mean, we were doing the lights and blaring Sandstorm coming out of halftime with a 9-7 lead over Ga St. We used to play Sandstorm more judiciously. But I suppose it was a way to artificially pump up the crowd since the game action wasn't doing it.
Sounds like Paul Dietzel to me.The more the artifice, the greater the distraction, which is sometimes more impactful than the product on the field.
He never should have left LSU. His hubris knew no bounds.Sounds like Paul Dietzel to me.
Limited only by his mortality. He never should have left LSU. His hubris knew no bounds.
Well, that one puts the brakes on all of them, and us.Limited only by his mortality.
