Agree. As much as I've enjoyed watching the CWS - especially, pulling for the SEC teams over the ACC teams... it's a very difficult choice to pull for any of those two teams. I just might deal with it, by not watching the Finals at all. What a terrible choice we have to make! An orange team or those cult freaks.
10th man. Think they'll figure it out? What a terrible choice we have to make! An orange team or those cult freaks.
Like Maryland when they joined the B1G?Yeah I'm thinking the same. Kinda hoping to see Texas and Ok go through droughts when they get here. Having aTm getting a NC would have to be a twist of the knife.
I'm having a hard time comparing Maryland's move to Oklahoma's and Texas'.Like Maryland when they joined the B1G?
Absolutely; however, I thought it an excellent analogy to what Blues men wishes.I'm having a hard time comparing Maryland's move to Oklahoma's and Texas'.
Not analogous, for sure. Missouri would be a tighter comparison.I'm having a hard time comparing Maryland's move to Oklahoma's and Texas'.
Indeed. I will say this, any team deciding to leave the ACC is probably going to get my complete and unconditional support no matter what I have thought about them in the past. Instant respect. I'll just say Mizzou's move didn't come with that. Truth is I'm not feeling it with OK and Texas either. Not analogous, for sure. Missouri would be a tighter comparison.
If expansion is, and was, an inevitability, I believe all these schools add value one way or another..Indeed. I'm sure it adds value. I hate to stray too off topic but if someone could convince me OK and UT left because they were unhappy with their conference I'd probably have more respect for them. After all, they pretty much were king of their conference. On the flip side, I have no doubt Maryland was unhappy. OK and UT sounds more like chasing dollars, which is fine just less respectable imo.If expansion is, and was, an inevitability, I believe all these schools add value one way or another..
The public perception of Maryland's ACC departure was financial; less revenue and the upcoming GOR.I'm sure it adds value. I guess you could view moving because of the GOR as financial but I see it more like them unhappy with the conference because of a bylaw change attempting to hogtie them. And I would guess the whole reason for the GOR was to combat unhappy members from leaving. Perhaps they moved to make more money idk. I would tend to think so if Maryland was at the top of the conference but they weren't. You have my curiosity up enough to look in to it tho.The public perception of Maryland's ACC departure was financial; less revenue and the upcoming GOR.
The public statement was that they had an athletic income shortage, and the B1G offered more $$$ in the long run. I'll go with both $$$ and being hogtied.I guess you could view moving because of the GOR as financial but I see it more like them unhappy with the conference because of a bylaw change attempting to hogtie them. Maryland hasn't been relevant in football since the very early days of the ACC. The were spending far more on athletics and not enough on academics in those days.Maryland wanted to be relevant in football but to date they have not invested the resources. Byrd Stadium and the baseball facilities are sub par to say it nicely.
The Bobby Ross days were the most recent spell of multi-year national relevance. They and UPC battled it out in the ACC during that time.Maryland hasn't been relevant in football since the very early days of the ACC. The were spending far more on athletics and not enough on academics in those days.
I was thinking of the Terps as a national power,The Bobby Ross days were the most recent spell of multi-year national relevance. They and UPC battled it out in the ACC during that time.
Having multiple reasons to leave the acc is certainly not far fetched. The public statement was that they had an athletic income shortage, and the B1G offered more $$$ in the long run. I'll go with both $$$ and being hogtied.
Pretty highly ranked during much of that time. National power would be a stretch.I was thinking of the Terps as a national power,
