In examining the prediction thread, I've noticed a lot of wool has been grown. Please
Granted I live in Atlanta and have been exposed to a ton of UGA media, and a lot of it has been bad.
1. Their Offensive Line is a patchwork collection just like ours. They don't have depth either. Their #1 RB is a true Freshman, who although is a pretty good runner, is not a good pass blocker. I actually think we can get pressure on Murray, probably with a safety blitz. Their backup RB's have been a non factor running the ball and they run a lot of single back formations. This should tip off whether the play is a pass or run. Although they will run with Samuels and Thomas, it's just been ineffective. Plus add in that Crowell has been playing with bruised ribs, has shown a lack of conditioning, and had 30 carries against Ole Miss. They can't ride that mule 30 plays against us. Our defense might be out of position some but they can lay hte wood at times.
2. Their D line is pretty good in the middle but they have given up a lot of yards on the edges. We should see the return of more option pitches. End arounds and WR sweeps should be effective. Their 3-4 scheme has been hobbled with injuries and suspensions to their LB corp. Although they probably get Christian Robinson back this week, he's probably their best at play calling.
3. They will move the ball on us with our soft coverage DB's but when we get into short field positions we will force them into kicking situations. We've done that to nearly everyone this year. UGA is no LSU, defensively or offensively. Since the Auburn game our defense has played pretty well. But the key to forcing them into kicking situations is that their kicker is having a terrible year. Now he may break his funk against us since that usually happens but right now he's at around .500.
4. Murray will get picked off. We will win the turnover battle (see point #5 below). We have the DB's to pcik off Murray if we can get pressure, also their two main targets are Malcome Mitchell a freshman and Orson Charles a TE (although he doesn't have many catches so far). Far less weapons to have to cover, we may even be able to play some man allowing a corner to blitz or freeing up a safety to blitz essentially every down. They just don't have near as many receiving threats as they did last year with AJ Green and Kris Durham gone.
5. Relf will play better. Last game was his worst performance in a while. Even as bad as it was he only had 1 pick. Let's not forget old Relf would have thrown 3 int's with that number of passes. Truth be told their best DB is their saftey Rambo. Outside of that the group is middle of the road.
6. Mullen knows how to beat Richt. One of the biggest gripes of Georgia fans is that Richt/Bobo run the same offense as richt ran when he was the OC at Fla. State.
7. Their special teams is bad, South Carolina beat them with something like 4 special teams TD's. And before everyone gets all So. Carolina is a top ten team did you see Navy took them to the wire? So. Carolina will get exposed soon for being overrated.
So in essense UGA has beat the Chanticleers or Coastal Carolina and Ole Miss. Two of the worst teams in football. Sure they played Boise and So. Carolina hard but their resume is not stellar. We had a bad game against La Tech, I think we bounce back this weekend with a close low scoring affair. And I'll be there in Sanford stadium to witness it all.
