With all the coaching stuff circulating, I find it interesting that Nate Oats buyout decreases to 10 mil this April and decreases to 4 April 27'.

I know there's been off court issues, but the timeline is intriguing if we move on from Pope next season. It would potentially save UK tons if interested in a proven coach.

I think he's Kansas's or UNC's to lose, tbh. Doubt he's still at Bama next season.

If next season is another failure and the university has hired a competent AD, this has to be one of the program's top options. Oats would obviously be an upgrade to Mark Pope. He runs genuine "exciting style of offense" in contrast to what we have been sold the last two years. He has a winning record against UK overall and other than a 5pt win, the match-up against Mark Pope has not been close, Oats having a 4-0 record. Oats and Pope began coaching the same year. One of them has a record that would warrant a look for consideration, it is not our current head coach.

If Bama don’t lock him down with a bigger contract buyout, maybe they are ready for him to leave

There’s no if about next season with Pope.

Next season is a losing season with Pope coaching.

I get heavy @sshole vibes from Oats even apart from the sleazy stuff. OTOH Pope's "progress" campaign has me thinking the grass in Alabama is looking really, really green...

Oats teams are fun to watch & play exactly how a 10 man rotation team should play. Lots of shots - lots of fouls - lots of action & movement.
.Like a football team with great offensive coordinator or a high scoring baseball team. Bama & Florida are both examples of what it takes to win in SEC.

If he ever does like Billy D did & hires a defensive assistant, look the hell out and offer him all the money

I would bet that gets restructured after this season especially if UNC or KU is sniffing round.

Why isnt Pope in the mix?????
Because this place is beautiful. It's spectacular and incredible to be around these amazing kids.

Just taking the piss. I appreciate Pope's temperament when it fits reality. Lol

Kansas will hire him. Maybe UNC because of the buyout. Next year will actually be awful timing because the two blueblooods will run up the price to buyout a contract to get a coach. Nate oats I expect bama to renew his contract. Lloyd, the Iowa st coach, all these guys and many more are primed for raises and heavy buyouts. We will be forced next year to hire an nba guy or some other coach the caliber of pope. Going after the proven guys won’t be attainable based on what Eli said.

Early reports are his buyout and off the court issues are both impediments for UNC.

There seems to be a top 4 of Donovan, Lloyd, May, and Otzelberger
Good list. Only BD is available now. So, waiting for the others could place UNC in a tougher spot. The portal sure helps these predicaments.

Can't be. Iowa State is Otzelbergers dream school and he will never leave. I was educated about that right here on RR

I’m gonna be livid if either get Oats. Brainfart already cost UK getting Sumrall by being too chickenshit to fire Stoops when he should have. If he costs us Oats as well…

Otzelberger negotiated his buyout from 18m to 4m. I think he is willing.
Of course he is. I don't even remember who it was on here that I wasted ten minutes of my life arguing with that the he would leave Iowa State for Kentucky in a New York Minute
