You really think Russell can beat out a true freshman? Lot of faith you're showing there.

He's been committed to WVU for a few months now, but it seems like a lot of people think we still have a shot at him. Has Brunetti said anything that would make us think we do in fact have a shot?

It's not really about him beating Tyler Russell or not. It is about signing the best possible player every year and giving the coach options this year and down the road. You don't want to end up one injury away from a dead season.

what is killing me. Some people on this board are looking at us signing Favre (or whoever) as "they're our qb for next year." It's not like that. I guess it's just they're so used to crooms crap over the last half of the previous decade that they don't know how to react when we sign a QB??

...No matter what evidence there is otherwise

2005 - Ryan Perrilloux
2006 - ?
2007 - Robert Elliott <---the one who gives GPer's hope.
2008 - Alonzo Lawrence
2009 - Pat Patterson
2010 - Barry Brunetti

I don't think they would unless they thought there was at least a decent shot at getting him. Otherwise, they would be wasting their time. Brunetti had alot of nice things to say about Mullen early on in his recruitment. He also really wanted to commit somewhere his prior to the season to "get it out of the way". I would think if there is anyone we could get to back out of a commitment, it would be Brunetti.

Taking Favre, to me, seems to kind of squash any hope of getting Brunetti but I guess you would certainly sign both if you can get Brunetti. Also what about the JUCO QB (Vye) we have coming in for a visit? Would have seemed the most sense would have been to sign one JUCO and one HS QB this year to balance out some of the ages of the QBs. That's why I never thought Favre's offer was nearly as dependent on Newton as it was on Brunetti.

and I will preface this by saying that I don't know that Mullen would do this- but Mullen could very well pull Favre's offer if Brunetti decides that he wants to go to MSU. I'm not saying that's what will happen or anything, but I will say this- I don't think we take two HS QB's, and I don't think that Brunetti's going to MSU.

I think we're much more likely to get the JUCO guy from California along with Favre than Favre and another HS QB.
