Is Brandon Bolden a better back than Vick Ballard?

Was just reading Nafoom and had no idea that this was the popular consensus. Hell, I really had no idea that there was popular consensus on the subject.<div>

Bolden racked up 75% of his yards against the five worst teams Ole Miss played, and he completely disappeared in half of their games last year. Look at the numbers, he rushed for less than 50 yards six times, including an 11-carry, 9-yard gem against Arkansas.

Ballard's numbers aren't great other than TDs, but he didn't get many carries at all early in the season.

It may be an opinion shared by none, but I think Perkins emerges as the best college RB in the state next year.

He can be a bruiser but also has good speed and moves. 20 TD's speak for themselves. But Bolden is a good back and had good numbers with not so good of a OL

They think intriguing, pop culture-esqueavatars and ultra-metrosexual/internet-meme pictorial signatures are the epitome of cool. So, there you go.

They are both good backs. However I share the belief that Ballard is a better back because of his consistency. Bolden had more total yards this season and altogether he had 17 TDs - 3 shy of Ballard, who played one more game - but in the big games he was non-existant.

The bears will have a solid offensive line.
The bears will have zero experience at QB.
The bears will have ZERO receivers.
This guy will get the ball a lot.
Do I think he is a better runner? NO. But he will get more carries (provided he doesn't get hurt).

is solid as hell and probably would not be rated as high an NFL prospect based on the measureables but Ballard knows how to play football and hits the hole with speed and without fear which are a couple of keys to his success. I think Ballard is more dependable as Bolden vanished from time to time last year in key situations.

Harris caught 30 balls... Bolden 32. Yep. He's tops in all 3 categories. Wonder if that's ever happened for an SEC team.

So every team that faces off against UM will stack the box and force an inexperienced QB to make bad decisions? I don't see that happening all the time.
About the only two positives I've heard have been about Bolden and their O line. And what about Enrique Davis? So they're going to have to open up some holes and hope this guy stays healthy. If that happens then it may give Brunetti or Mackey or whoever they have under center enough time to get SEC-speed experience and have some semblance of a passing game by mid-season. Unfortunately, they don't have much of a defense. Nix will still be calling the shots and their secondary is already thin. Bolden may be able to run up some yards, but they probably won't be able to stop anyone from putting numbers right back on them and then some.

Hard to compare straight up based on stats because Bolden ran behind an OL that started I believe around 10 different players throughout the year, didn't have one senior, and only had 2 juniors on the two deep.

Ballard ran behind an experienced OL that stayed pretty consistent most of the year.

I won't draw the comparison because I don't know enough about Ballard, but Bolden did have a more difficult task last year. I was impressed with Perkins in the limited amount I saw of him last year.

But Ole Miss will find ways to score points. They always do. Their defense will suck. Hence, they will suck.
