Is Damien Robinson the real deal?

It looks like he has gotten it down to his top 4 - Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi State. How good is this guy and how realistic are our chances of getting him?

Im pretty sure with his size, he is limited to OT. So who does he replace? Sherrod or Lawrence. I thought both played well this year.

Sherrod replacement in 2011. Hopefully he would be able to be at least a backup next year somewhere or it will be hard to count on him as a starter for the next year. If it becomes obvious he is a project that needs some time we may be forced to go the JUCO route unless Watts or Jackson from last year appear to be LT material. Right now though we just need some OL bodies to work with. Mullen's biggest deficiency so far recruiting wise appears to be OL.

Wrong. You don't want Robinson at LT. He is RT all the way.

Our best bet for 2011 is moving Lawrence from the right side to the left side and plug Robinson or whoever in at RT. Barring signing a juco who is ready to play, of course.

wonders with alot less talent than D Robinson. If he comes in next year I look for him to back up on the tackles with reps when they are available then fight for the RT job the next year and move Lawrence to LT.

in that I'm not overly thrilled with Lawrence at that LT position either. If Robinson is truly a RT then we need to starting combing the JUCOS NOW for available 2010 December signees.

Scott Samsel is one of the hottest coaching prospects in America according to Scott Samsel.

He would replace Lawrence. He played good against Houston but he also had some terrible games such as Arkansas.

I know OM fans and MSU fans both posted about how poorly he played this season, at least the people that saw him play said these things. Of course everyone assumed he was going to AL at this time, and since then Bama has backed off, and I have no idea who is recruiting him now, maybe the entire country.

OM fans weren't the only ones bashing Robinson, if that is the point of your post.

and the other numerous coaches that dropped him from their want list after he sucked balls and got his *** whipped by MUS kids as well as a sophomore and freshman at USP.

Hell, even his "highlight video" makes him look like a *****.

He has all the physical tools but he needs alot of coaching. With the right coaching he can easily be all-conference or better.

He's definitely worth a scholarship and I hope we sign him, but I'm not going to annoint him as the next great offensive lineman at MSU if we do. If his final four list is accurate, I'll take signing any player over those three any day though.

If he gets the right coaching AND gives the right effort he has a good chance be a very good OL.

To hold off on annointing anyone as the next big thing. Cam Newton included.

But we can't help ourselves, we all want to think that we have the next big thing coming to our school. We all do it. I think we would learn that top 50 players in the country usually pan out in Basketball, but in football it is a crap shoot and the system the coach uses, makes a huge difference in whether the player will be successful.

Recruiting is the ultimate message board topic, because it is something that you really can't be proven wrong in except in a few rare circumstances.
