Is it OK to root for TCU?

I did my part and rooted hard for the Dawgs against Ohio State.

However, TCU is different:

1. TCU is not in the ACC, Big Ten or PAC-12.

2. TCU is not Notre Dame

No one is seriously going to make the case the Big XII is the best conference, especially with Texas and OU leaving for the SEC.

Also, maybe TCU could use a national title to springboard into a power that could rival Texas, Okie and A&M in recruiting.

Thoughts?

I pull for anyone against UGA unless they are playing Clempson

I've hated UGA in the past, but Kirby has earned a bit of respect from me. They've had opportunities to demolish us and he's gone pretty easy on us.
In general, I root against UGA in any sport during conference play. However, I'm kind of with you on Kirby. I like that his teams attempt to play defense. For whatever reason, most SEC teams don't seem to think playing defense is important anymore, including Bama.

I think that has a lot to do with roughing and targeting penalties. Teams can't afford to lose 2 or 3 defensive starters for a half.

IF TCU wins it, I'll be happy for them. I'll pull for Georgia. The SEC brand matters to all the teams in it.

You know what's funny? I am a child of the ACC era and will always maintain that leaving that league as we did was a historically stupid decision. Yet, here I am promoting support by fans of the SEC schools in situations like this, but some so-called SEC people who have for years disagreed with me vehemently over my ACC-departure stance are pulling for TCU. To me, that's a curious disconnect.

Don't think Duggan, although an excellent running QB, has the speed/elusiveness which OSU's Stroud has. Stroud gave GA defense fits and literally wore them out with his scrambling ability. Therefore, GA's pass rush will be more effective and give them the edge.
Not a GA fan but prefer to keep the championship in the SEC

I tell ya, he's a dadgum warrior. He barely had the strength to walk near the end of that Big XII title game.

I'm with you on leaving the ACC....but definitely not on pulling for other SEC teams. Never got into the "SEC, SEC" hysteria. Would love to see TCU or anyone kick UGA's butt.

I don,'t think the SEC brand would be affected much by a TCU win. It's interesting that UGA could be only the 3rd team to go 15-0, but no one -- not even Dawg fans -- believe this a great team. Just seems like a down year in general for college football teams.

Agreed - UGA success and winning another natty hurts us in recruiting.
Them losing does not hurt the SEC Brand in the slightest bit, but it does take the ā€œfirst team in 10 years to win back to backā€ away from them.

Georgia wins and there's NO question of any detraction to the brand.

Hope so - go Horned Frogs! Hell I pulled as hard as I could for Ohio St. Why do we want UGA to dominate college football when we play them every year? They will win though after their escape with help from the refs.

People who use that term lose credibility points. They don't understand the eminence that the national championship deserves.

Lol I am so upset I have lost credibility in your eyes for abbreviating a word. People who use ā€œdonā€™tā€ lose credibility points for not typing ā€œdo notā€ out all the way.
I am not as educated on the matter because I abbreviated a word. That is one I have not heard before.

Glad you're an SEC fan. Keep pulling for the SEC and I'll keep pulling for the Gamecocks.
That should not be mutually exclusive. We already tried independent status. We didn't seem to like it. Remember?

I don't remember. We joined the SEC when I was 2. I also don't care lol. I am not an SEC fan and want Georgia to lose any and every game, along with Tennessee and Alabama for that matter. Unless they're playing Clempson.

21 years without all-sports conference affiliation lends a certain perspective on how valuable this membership is and has been. You can't help what you never experienced.

Pull for whoever you want for whatever reason you want.

But I'm pulling for Georgia. SEC! SEC! (Yeah, I'm that guy - just like most of the folks in the other fanbases in the conference). It just means more.

Knowing the Muschamp is there I can never pull for UGA except if they play the Tillmon Taters.

UK is currently on my crap list. Maybe because I'm smug enough to think they should never beat us. ;)
I also used to hate Thug-U....for the way the treated us way back in '87.
There really isn't that much bad blood between UGA and USC, IMO. There are a lot more fierce rivalries out there & Mark Richt was always a good guy.
