Is it OK to root for TCU?

21 years without all-sports conference affiliation lends a certain perspective on how valuable this membership is and has been. You can't help what you never experienced.
I'm with you in general on supporting SEC teams. I just think UGA losing won't matter much in the grand scheme of things. It's a win-win for me. I want TCU to win, but if UGA could win another for the SEC in a so-so year for the conference that would be impressive. Hard for the Big Ten media to spin it.

Hard not to pull for them but we get paid if Georgia gets a NC. And I would rather knock off the reigning National Champion next year than the team that lost to TCU.

If you like the underdog story, it doesn't get much better than Stetson Bennet. He went almost un-recruited out of high school. Went to UGA was a PWO. Transferred to JUCO a year later after he realized he was never gonna get a shot at UGA. Then came back to UGA after he was told he could compete for the starting job. Then UGA goes out and out gets 2 transfer QBs to compete for the starting job after Fromm departed. Bennett was told he was the odd guy out again.

From all of that to winning a national title and playing for a chance to repeat.

I have no real feelings about TCU one way or the other. They are not like an ACC (clemson/fsu/miami) or B1G team I dislike. I want to see Georgia win to take some of the never ending media luster and love away from Bama. Kirby seems to be a good guy and has built their program through hard work, not through funneling cash through a church or paying player's parents. I don't care much about the "SEC" thing.

Stetson's story is about the best college football story I can imagine. If it was written as a fiction story it wouldn't sell because it is too unbelievable.

If Georgia wins Monday night and they don't retire Stetson's jersey, they never need to retire another jersey.
