WDLION-Yes it helps that PSU is located in the middle of the best high school wrestling in the country. HOWEVER, I saw PSU wrestle at Cornell the year before Cael took over. We had like 2 wrestlers who actually looked good that year and the rest were listless, unaggressive, and unexciting. Team was totally
mediocre and I believe we were still located in the middle of the best high school wrestling. We WERE NOT WINNING CHAMPIONSHIPS! WIthin 2 years of his coaching this amazing streak started. YES, being in the middle of the best high school wrestling helped and I believe was a factor in Cael coming to PSU-but what Cael has done is truly remarkable. Most of his wrestlers are terrific students and citizens as well! I have briefly interacted with him at autograph signings and he is as gracious and pleasant as can be. He has also built the Nittany Lion Club into an international center for men and women wrestlers. Our new AD MUST make sure Cael is happy at PSU, give him what he needs, and thus keep this amazing tradition going at PSU. There is a lot of Big 10 competition for the top wrestlers-scholarships are very limited-and thus keeping at the top will always be tough-but trust in Cael and we hopefully will continue doing well and have more national championships and individuals champions-plus hopefully another PSU wrestler winning a gold medal at the Olympics.
