they have some amazing candies. Is there any better chocolate company in PA? did not know that Mike Hull was from that town, as well as Perry Como and Marty Schottenheimer and Bobby Vinton.

There are more than a few that are better. As for the best, my choice would be Asher's, based in Souderton.
Absolutely. Their cordialed chocolate covered strawberries are the best I've ever had, but you can only get them at certain times of the year.
Hershey's. They make Reese's, and that alone puts them on a different level (IMO, of course) than any of the others.
Oh yeah! Definitely miss getting Smidgens at the outlet store right off 81!Repping NEPA, Gertrude Hawk & her Smidgens!

Philadelphia Candies in Hermitage, Pa.
Get yourself a pizza from Luigi's and then drive one mile down State Street (Rt 62) toward Sharon and get some dessert from Philadelphia Candies.
Worked there one winter/spring. You could eat all of the broken rabbit ears and nuts that you wanted. Then go another mile into Sharon and chase them down with a few beers at the original Lube.
I really like Gardner's Candies from Tyrone, PA. Their peanut butter meltaways are incredible. As well as their chocolate covered pretzels.
Not a candy store but I always thought that Goldenbergs Peanut Chews was the best candy bar. They used to be a Philadelphia company but were bought several years ago by someone in the south. I'm not sure if they were in bankruptcy or why they were sold but the candy bar is still being made and is still my favorite.

Just Born Corp in Bethlehem Pa purchased Goldenbergs Peanut Chews. Just Born has been a family managed business since its inception. I believe that Goldenbergs manufacturing remains in Philly….not 100% sure….but I believe it is still local.
Guess there are no fans of Godiva chocolates, manufactured in Reading PA.
Godiva milk chocolate pecan turtles and milk chocolate vanilla caramels are great. They also have some nice almond butter filled candies.

The boxes might say Belgium but Godiva Chocolate is made in Reading, PA. Good luck finding better chocolate than Godiva!
Godiva chocolate is so good I almost witnessed a fight erupt amongst employee (employee families) waiting in line to get into the outlet store at the factory. It was weeks before Christmas years ago. I was there on a delivery and as a vendor I had access to the store. Someone tried to butt in front of someone to get in the outlet store sooner and a fight almost broke out. You could get their candy cheap. It was candy that they could not sell because they were considered rejects for example a stripe was not right on the piece of candy or they were not the exact weight.
Clearly, the PG is tracking this board to guide their story selection!

Canonsburg chocolate company continues its tasty tradition
It’s been mostly a sweet ride for 70 years for Sarris Candies, the Canonsburg company that started in the basement of its founder in 1950.

Godiva hasn't been a Belgian company for nearly fifty years since it was sold to Campbell Soup in 1972. Presently owned by Turkish and South Korean companies, with factories in Belgium, Turkey and Reading.
Dunmore Candy Kitchen is the absolute best for chocolate molds for the holidays, but especially Easter. We get a box shipped out every year.
I know this. My mom worked for Godiva for almost 30 years. I also did a summer there before college. Having said that, Godiva still pretends it's made in Belgium for marketing purposes.
