So many horrible calls in that game went against Michigan. Just awful. This is called 1 out of 25 times. Its why every team does it. Illinois had their chances, some they didn't even really deserve. They lost

Vodka will be flowing on saturday for the greatest rivalry in all of sports, not to mention a shot for a 2nd straight Big Ten title and a 2nd straight trip to the playoff. I'll be rooting for you guys against Sparty. Whether I watch or not depends on the outcome of The GameBath salts and vodka is a terrible mix this early in the afternoon. Yeah, I guess the ridiculous OPI called against us near the end of our game at Minnesota in 2019 must have been that "1 out of 25 times".So many horrible calls in that game went against Michigan. No idea. I know teams do it to Michigan all the time (and mostly don't get called for it) and its frustrating as hell. I loved the playYeah, I guess the ridiculous OPI called against us near the end of our game at Minnesota in 2019 must have been that "1 out of 25 times".

You guys won that game. Some people come up with some stupid sh-t. the Jason Avant "catch" was even MORE blatantI did not watch the game, but saw this on "Final Drive". Even the Final Drive guys said this was a penalty, but no call. In addition there was a pass that hit the ground and the refs called in a catch. Not sure if the pass play was reviewed but it should have been and called reversed. But the Big Ten needs OSU-Mich to be undefeated to get the nation to watch next week. And they want both OSU and Mich in the playoffs.
To answer your question this was not the most blatant call for Mich. While there are many plays one could site, I believe the play against PSU where Johnson caught a pass and had one foot in bounds by about a foot and the refs called the catch out of bounds is the most blatant.

4th down - game is OVER if Michigan does not convert.
About as obvious an offensive pass interference call as one could ever see.
Right out in plain view of every official (and anyone in the stadium who was paying attention at all). I believe the Linesman there is Brett Bergmann (couldn't say for 100% though). In any event, the Linesman (who is partially hidden from camera view by the yard marker) has a completely unobstructed view of the play. He is, appropriately, lined up on the LOS, and simply has to "notice" that the pass is being completed downfield, to his left - which it is, by about three yards. No competent official can EVER miss that call. Ever.
Lead man (TE Loveland) literally comes off the LOS and simply drive blocks the defensive back (actually, two defensive backs).
Pass is not even close to being behind the line of scrimmage (which would have been necessary to make it legal)
And..... no call. First down Michigan.
Seriously, Billema should be going ape-nuts - and asking that the Ref standing over there watching it all unfold be dismissed, immediately, by the Big Ten. At the very least.
And I know Penn Staters are supposed to love Todd Blackledge, but his "analysis" after this play was a Hall-of-Famer for bad announcing:
"Really good job by Loveland, drawing two defenders and moving them up the field... that opened up the throwing lane"
Uh, Todd, he didn't "draw two defenders"... he blatantly, illegally, blocked the defensive back.
That is not how this works.Funny thing is that PSU was the team the Big 10 should have protected in 2005. PSU was undefeated. Michigan had lost 3 times already, and OSU had lost twice. Its a one way street.
