In the day of the transfer portal, this is what happens to 5-7 teams. College sports is now very similar to AAU Basketball. Win or your best players get taken.
I'm not against NIL but to sit out all year nursing an injury while collecting a million dollars from everyday people only to get in the portal and leave is actually disgusting. This will negatively impact our NIL efforts a hundred-fold.
We were not lousy last year and still got taken to the cleaners in the portal, compared to what we brought in.

That is because wins are just one factor in the state of athletics today. How many touches a player gets comes into play (Bell, Lloyd). Playing time comes into play. Bigger payday comes into play. Fans need to get out of their minds this thought that players are playing at their school for the love of the university anymore. You might have 3 or 4 on your team like that, but that's about it.
The NIL and portal are not good for college athletics. The portal, in theory should benefit SC, but does not except for a player or two.
I think percentages favor the latter. At least that man has opportunities for corrective action.
You only benefit if you favorably compare. But even then, you are only winning at something that is inherently bad.
