Nah, yesterday wasn’t really make or break for the season. Minnesota, Maryland, and MSU will be the difference in our bowl game though. Win all those and looking good going into next year.

Having a toasty cup of coffee and despite what I said earlier, am watching the game since I missed most of it.

ages ago, in another board, we use to joke with Michigan fans that their slogan was “wait until next year”. We have become them.

About like I have for yrs now, can't run the ball with consistency, struggle to stop the run and Clifford is who we thought he was, a guy who will make a play here and there, but not a true difference maker. 8-4 here we come..

just fine- if you define your worth on the success of anyone else you are a very sad individual indeed
This is most certainly true, but as many of us have invested our emotional well-being to Dear Old State for decades, it still sucks to feel as though the program (and university) is not in good hands. That they’ve settled for “good enough”. All is well and good personally, but I feel for those pouring their everything into a place that we all love and falling short because of substandard leadership.

ZFG. They don’t care so i don’t care. I’m a very casual fan at this point, way sadder when the sixers lose

Porter with a penalty on the very first play. What an omen.

I agree, but not about a trivial pastime like sports.

I was once a proud alum- that all ended when the BOT threw Joe under the bus

Right. It’s not like we’re Tennessee. Oh wait…

I feel Michigan turned their program around FOR NOW and commend the way they did it. Their fans were half way packing Jimmy's van out of Ann Arbor. JH took NFL advice from brother John . Penn State has to have the future is now mentality with the approach of playing Big Ten style football. As a PSU fan for nearly 60 years i've seen darker years and worse losses.

Maybe we need to recruit more hungrier prove me wrong student athletes. Are some players having “come to Jesus” moments regarding the level of competition and adversity they’re facing?

I’m kinda bummed about Allar, out of everything. I know it’s a small sample size, but he didn’t look ready. The thought that Franklin may have simply not been playing him for that reason is a little scary. I preferred to think it was just super senior Clifford favoritism, with a dose of risk aversion.

Allar is supposed to be a savior - the first mega-big time QB recruit under Franklin. But maybe he’s just another big time recruit that doesn’t develop at Penn State, or goes somewhere else and thrives, like Levis.

I feel fine. I am getting back into my gym groove and had a good session, 170 x 9 x 3 on the dumbbell bench press. Plus, on the way home I passed a lovely woman jogging in her sports bra, very nice. Plus Arsenal won. I’ll muddle through, thanks for asking.

Sadly I dont feel much of anything . I long ago accepted that PSU will be average until Franklin is gone which is only 9 more years. Until then we will dream big under perform and talk about how it is all about recruiting and developing players its the developing that never seems to take place

I am ok with the loss if they were competitive, it's how they lost. It happens every year under JF coming off a bye. Honestly next year it should be full contact and pads for the week off. They always look so unorganized and half a step slow coming off the bye.

how would you describe Franklins style? I feel like I’m watching a team run by an 8 year old playing Madden on his Xbox.

I don't know how much control Mike Yurchich has on the game plan.Franklin came here from Vandy with his style , i don't have an answer.

Manny i'm assuming has almost complete control of the D, but he wasn't tackling either, i still like Manny.

Maybe for this year it is. The fact that basically nobody was enthused about Clifford coming back was indication that this wasn’t going to be a breakout year.
Back in the day, having a senior starting at qb meant that a good year was in the offing. This year has been a disappointment, really. The “looks test” isn’t everything, but it’s not nothing and we look like a mediocre team at best, 5-1 or not. Someone marveled at Ohio State the other week and I’ll just say that nobody here is going to deny that the OSU game might get ugly.

Ah, I’ll move on. Maybe next year will be different.

I feel fine because I realized a few years ago that coach Franklin was not the guy to lead PSU back to prominence where we rightfully belong. While I still have a passion for PSU football, I am a realist. Under the current leadership, the Football program is basically 2nd tier and mediocre with zero chance to consistently compete with our top rivals OSU, MSU, and Michigan.

I expected a loss by double digits. The frustrating thing is nothing being done to address the underlying issues. Same things and excuses for most of Franklin’s tenure here.
I remember predictions of the sleeping giant that was Penn State awakening after Paterno was gone. That giant is either still sleeping or never was.

Coach Franklin’s upward momentum stalled out in 2019. After that point, it’s been stagnant and the B1G coaching staffs know how to matchup well vs PSU. Only 4-5 programs have the talent to do it in any given year. But that’s why this team is an annual lock to lose 3-4 games.

The Phillies clincher helped me forget the loss. An Eagles win will virtually erase it completely.

I'm left with only 2 thoughts about PSU Football.

1) We won't compete at the highest level again until we recruit bigger/stronger guys on the DL and OL.

2) I would have no problem with turning it over to Allar the rest of the way.
