I don't think it directly correlates to high school coaches, but the coaches in all of our major sports would like for us to start back the PE major, so start it back. It's that simple.
ETA: I don't think the request for a PE major is all about getting athletes an easy major. Nutt has requested we create a General Studies or Interdisciplinary Studies major for that purpose. That's where you take a certain number of courses at specific levels in any subject and get credit towards a degree, basically a degree in taking random classes. I believe MSU already has one of those, and many schools do. Memphis has one called University College. You'll notice about 2/3 of their basketball team is usually majoring in University College. Those majors are very athlete friendly because you can basically select any course at the 100, 200, or 300 level and any section, which just about guarantees you can load up your athletes in courses with teachers who are athlete friendly. We don't have that today, so most of our athletes get stuck in either Parks and Rec or mostly Criminal Justice, which aren't difficult, but they aren't as easy as it would be to have a General Studies major.
