PE major Mississippi graduates to become high school coaches for recruiting advantages. Hell, don't we have enough beautiful Bobbys out there already?

The point is, you have more of them.

I don't think it directly correlates to high school coaches, but the coaches in all of our major sports would like for us to start back the PE major, so start it back. It's that simple.

ETA: I don't think the request for a PE major is all about getting athletes an easy major. Nutt has requested we create a General Studies or Interdisciplinary Studies major for that purpose. That's where you take a certain number of courses at specific levels in any subject and get credit towards a degree, basically a degree in taking random classes. I believe MSU already has one of those, and many schools do. Memphis has one called University College. You'll notice about 2/3 of their basketball team is usually majoring in University College. Those majors are very athlete friendly because you can basically select any course at the 100, 200, or 300 level and any section, which just about guarantees you can load up your athletes in courses with teachers who are athlete friendly. We don't have that today, so most of our athletes get stuck in either Parks and Rec or mostly Criminal Justice, which aren't difficult, but they aren't as easy as it would be to have a General Studies major.

to me was that he's making it well known that rebel nation has absolutely no confidence in their AD's internal fund raising abilities. Ok, so the entire letters essentially stated that they have no confidence in the whole athletic department but their seemed to be a few specific jabs at the fund raising group in particular. If you wanted to sum up the letters in a few statements, it was something along the lines of "We have absolutely no confidence in you or your employees to do the job that you're paid to do, so our recommendation is to pay third parties to do them for you while you do nothing other than sit on your *** and cash your paychecks".

If you're saying there's more USM and MSU PE grads that are coaching, I can see that. But if you're saying that state or southern have more "fans" that are coaches in high school, I would dispute that. How many "walk-on" black bearz fans in high school coaching are out there? I guarantee you most folks can point to at least one redneck high school coach that sports the rebel regalia without ever having graced the walk of co-champions. Hell, I've got six uncles ranging in ages from 70+ down to 50, some made it to 8th grade and some made it to high school graduate, but none of whom made it to college. They're all bearz. Two are involved in coaching at the HS level (assistants). The high school ranks in MS is filled with walk-on bearz.

Maybe it's just perception then, because what I see are a lot of MSU 'fans' or grads coaching players. We have a few hot beds and a few pipelines, but there are plenty of places that push to MSU.

Honestly, I don't have a huge problem with that either way. What I have a problem with are the coaches in the state that push their players to LSU, Alabama, Auburn, etc. There will always be coaches that expose their prospects to one school moreso than another or steer their prospects if possible. That's fine, but I don't like to see Mississippi coaches doing that for programs outside the state.
