With respect to the network payout, consider that ESPN already sponsors the Longhorn Network. Some of that revenue should be available to the SEC. Also, if South Carolina ends up playing 9 conference games, they will also have to play our rivals at, well, you know. Most, if not all other, SEC teams plat their rivals in-conference. Since Carolina already plays 9 Power 5 schools and with the addition of another, how will the non-conference schedule play out? Another Power 5 school and then whomever? I think the better the opposition the better it makes you. You can't win championships by playing woosies. If Carolina is to become a real contender then they must compete against the best. I get it, we are already in the SEC playing the best, but toughening up the schedule can only help.

Don't like it. I want to play UGA every year. How can you have an SEC season without UT and UGA playing one another?

Blah.

Nothing has been decided. I'll listen when the SEC (Mr. Sankey) talks.

I hope we get Uga.

Bama and SC seem to have the tougher permanent opponents with the proposed schedule
Looks that way to me as well. And if Georgia were in our "cluster" instead, as some of our people think they should be, well, that wouldn't be any easier.

People need to understand that this move, while driven by football, is about much more than football. This clip makes that point toward the end.

I never wanted either of them. Also never wanted Missouri or aTm. I'm sure there are SEC purist that didn't want us or the Swine, neither.
1980 for sure didn't. I don't want texas cause they ruin everything for everyone. OU don't really have a problem with but just no.

I assume the SEC will go to a single division like the Pac 12 and ACC, but if the below ever happened, it would be bad news for us. West would be a total joke.

You really need to resign yourself to the realities of what's happening.

I understand the sentiment. I never wanted to leave the ACC for 20 years of Purgatory. But this is a case where the league has to be ahead of the curve, and it is - barely.

I'd still rather be in the ACC, but not the watered down ACC that exists today. Get the band back together.

Cocks
Tillman
UNC
NCSU
Wake
Duke
UVa
Maryland

I'd even accept VPI & Georgia Tech to give the conference a round number of 10.

Wistful, but our memories will have to suffice us. Dang, I hated State, UNC, and Duke - hated them. With UPC thrown in, I hated half the league - utterly. That's how it ought to be.

It would certainly do more for regional rivalries which, ultimately, makes college football more fun. But, as others have said, that clearly isn't going to happen.

Hold on let me call my contact and tell them to cancel it all. Just need you to walk out into the ocean about 100 yards till I get back.
You're looking at considerable futility on both aspects of that. I, on the other hand, am not.

Probably just one that was already here - rebranding himself. They do that.

At least playing Missouri and A&M yearly should come to an end, although we did beat the Aggies in that great game at Willy B. I would rather play Arky that either of them but none of them should be a "permanent" opponent. Why don`t they call it "annual" opponent or something. Arky was permanent. Mizzou and A&M were permanent. I thought permanent meant what it`s supposed to mean. Must be a Dem behind all this, as they love to change meanings of words!

SEC should just split into 2 8-member conferences as shown in the above map with a "working agreement" between the leagues.

Call the East the SEC, and the West the SWC.

Never is a long long time, and not a prospect I would be willing to assign myself to, particularly when it comes to sports.
I think that there was a time when that template would have been the go-to format. The Big 12 demonstrated that it didn't have to be that way. Getting your best two teams into the championship game has become the objective and divisional play rarely achieves that.

I'll concede your point, but I'm still not going to assign myself to a "Never Happen" proposition, because, well as we've all seen, sometimes Never does happen.

In this case, "never" already did happen and ran its course. I think the scenario most likely to produce a return would be conference expansion to an extent that makes subdivision necessary, say, a conference comes to have 20-24 teams. At that point, you would probably run a championship game for each side of the conference. Whether or not those "sides" would be viewed as divisions is anyone's guess. It depends on the degree of compartmentalization. At any rate, I would say that such a development is years away, if "ever".

If this year is the end of the annual series with Mizzou, we gotta win that. Can't end with them having won 5 in a row on us.
