I will never understand kids decommitting from schools that saw the best in them first. Committing to a school that only offered you because they missed out on players they thought were better is wild.

Agree.
And we are the poster child for being the victim of this behavior.

Life as a Gamecock fan, it’s not us we’re just not Georgia!

It's almost not even worth getting on kids early anymore. I guess you really don't have any choice, but then basically have to just cross your fingers and hope a big dog doesn't come sniffing around.

Mean they don’t value themselves. Imagine dating someone after they only chose you because their first couple of options said no.

Just trying to look at it from an unbiased point of view this is not the same thing. College football is a business from an NIL perspective and a making it to the NFL perspective. Regardless of whether you’re their 1st choice or their 10th choice, you go to the place that will best provide those two. Again, looking at it from an unbiased point of view, UGA is going to pour into the guys they get on campus. As a recruit you put your feelings aside and realize that the coaches are going to work on developing you, not the guy they missed out on who isn’t even on campus. Too many posters on here are just too emotional.

Maybe the new model is to recruit 3 stars and hope you can develop them like we've done with some in the past. I mean you need to start factoring in the amount of recruiting time and money that you spend on some of these kids that flip when a better offer comes along and put those resources into NIL for portal guys, except for quarterbacks, you have to get at least one high ceiling qb
each cycle.

I am waiting on the usual spin masters to tell us why this isn't a big deal and is actually a good thing.

It's not a big deal. I concur with posters on this thread mentioning the blue blood programs and players leaving for next big offer.

I don’t see anyone claiming it’s not a big deal. It certainly is. Everyone on this thread is simply saying that’s the way it goes when you’re a Gamecock fan. I personally say I understand why a kid would flip to UGA, not that I don’t think it’s a big deal.

There are only 22 starting spots on the roster so at some point playing time has to become an issue on rosters loaded with 4 and 5 ★ kids.

If had a bevy of 4* and 5* guys in the class, maybe it's not a big deal. But he was our highest rated recruit from a pretty thin class. The only nationally relevant recruit.
