I realize on paper we have the advantage but I can't help but remember what we do when we have high expectations. I guess I'll say it, I fear an Ole Miss 2009-like season. Croom has left me permanently scarred.

That is just being realistic. Our fanbase thinks we have the advantage while Vegas seems to think Aubie does. Should be a 50/50 type game. Hope we take it.

Auburn is 11am kick ...favors us
Auburn will have some unanswered questions ...favors us

IF we improve from winning in hostile environments and improve our mental toughness ...we should be ok playing on the road

Could be something really special if we find away to win those 2!

I'm having the same problem. I think the whole season will just be a disaster. All I can think about is how similar this is to 2001. If we are cursed, this season should tell it.

and look what happened. Our season was the most successful in over a decade.

I don't feel good about either game, which is a symptom of being a State fan, but I also know we can trip up in both of those games and still have an enjoyable season. I feel better about Auburn, than I do LSU. But we have agood coachwho knows how to motivate his players, so we have a better chance inboth of these two than we had last year.

You just don't replace a 1st-round-draftee LT. See Ole Miss and their 'underperforming' year, and us post-gun/Bud-car-gate (Mike Brown?, anyway, not a first rounder, but same principle).

There will be an associated offensive drop-off. If much of the rest of the offense had already peaked (Relf, Ballard), then there will be a net drop-off. I will be happy to see WR improvement for a net effect of the same offensive performance as last year. Problem being, that we lost significantly at DE and LB too, so the D might not be as good either.

I'm expecting 8-4. Mullen is unlikely to lose the games we should win. Win one of AU, LSU, GA, and AL. Win one of SC and AR.

I guess it all comes down to, can the OL beat the DL of the rest of the West? I just don't see it yet, and i don't think the D is good enough to give Mullen enough of a chance to coach us over the gap. We'll be top 25, and if any team has issues we'll beat them (a la GA, FL last year), but we're just not a top 10 team yet, and that's what it now takes to win in the West.

I'm actually a little apprehensive myself but still a little hopeful at the same time. I actually think we have a good opportunity to get to 10 wins but I'm willing to say 9 is more than likely. Anywhere from 8 to 10 is possible. Just have to have a lot of good things roll our way.

the #1 overall player in college football last year. Losing a 1st round LT is huge in any kind of offense, but it has more affect in the Pro-style than Mullen's spread. I'm expecting an increase in offensive production this year.

let that sink in.

Good offensive minds find ways to move the ball. Mullen, like Sean Peyton, is a good offensive mind.We havea solid offensive line, good WRs, and two really good RBs with totally different skill sets. Our offense will move the ball this year, we will be fine. We really only lost a LT and a FB.

I think we will beat Auburn by 7+. They have a brand new QB,a brand new defense, and, most importantly, a brand newO-Line. We lost our LT, that's the only starter they have returning. So which scenario would you rather have? That will be hard to overcome by Week 2. It's not like Utah State is going to prepare these guys for the SEC. We also have an additional 2 days to game plan over Auburn.

And our defense should be fine. Ferguson, Stigers, Lawrence, and Hughes all got some good experience last year. Boyd and Cox will be good up the middle, and the rest of these guys will be servicable. Adding Maye is a huge plus. We'll bring Skinner, Bohanna, and Wells along as the year goes. There will be a drop in defense, but I don't think it will be drastic.

Carmon/Clausell will be acceptable at LT. The Left Tackle spot is not as crucial as in the West Coast Offense. Plus we dropped off in 08 due to 2 missed field goals (dif. between 6-6 and 4-8) and having the worst Offensive Coordinator ever. Our Offensive production will only go up with new playmakers at WR coming online and we don't have to replace anyone who scored a point last year. And when Nick Griffin gets healthy watchout.

Auburn is replacing 5 starting O-Lineman, Nick Fairley, Cam Newton (40% of their offense), etc...

Josh Boyd and Fletcher Cox will crash anything in the interior, and our secondary will shut down whatever passing game they have with whatever scab they have at QB. The only viable option they will have is running their sweep plays around the edge on our DE's/OLB's. But even then I don't think it'll be enough.

We will win probably 9 regular season games this year. Could go anywhere from 8-10. Anything less than 8 will be dissappointing, anything more than 10 will be a miracle.

i thought our team was woefully better than theirs last year, sans Cam Newton. I know people say that Cam Newton wasn't "Cam Newton" yet.... but our offense wasn't exactly full-speed either. Hell, one of our biggest offensive play makers, LD, wasn't even known yet.

Considering our team (top to bottom) was better than theirs (in my opinion) and that we are returning far more players than they are, I can't see how we won't beat the brakes off of them this year. Their only advantage will be playing at home (I did zero research before I made this judgment, they may be returning an outstanding OL for all i know).

That said, we will probably lose to AU, then get incredible psyched for LSU but still fall short... then our team confidence/morale is shot and the wheels completely fall off. Miss'ippi Tate!

i don't know if we have the DEs and OLB to stop it. and if we have to start cheating the safeties there, then our league-average CBs probably get burned.

but yeah, AU is probably the weakest of the four i listed. They should probably be ranked with SC and AR, not LSU, AL, and GA.

The DE position is what scares me the most. Eulls playing at DT is what I don't get, I thought he would be a DE and get some playtime this year.

Getting Brandon Maye helps out enormously at LB.

Georgia is really struggling for consistency with their O-Line. They've had another injury here recently. Murray is a great qb but they lose AJ Green and Kris Durham. Also they'll be relying on a true Freshman RB (not named Herschel Walker). Getting them early in the Season will help.

If, and this is way out there with some miracles, we beat LSU we couldposibly be undefeated going into the Bama game. That to me is our absolute best case scenario at 10-2. I'm assuming we lose 2 of 3 in November to Bama and Arky.

what worries me is that we're weak at every position on the outside: DE, OLB, CB.

DEs that won't need to be double teamed at all, means our OLB will need to shed blocks and tackle in the open field, two things Mr. LongHair has shown he doesn't do well. and weakness at CB means we can't cheat with the safeties to help the OLBtoo much without getting burned deep.

AU has great RBs, and an offensive coach great at getting his playmakers the ball in the open field. with weak DEs, there's going to be a lot of open field. they'll probably ignore the middle of the field like we ignored the pass against Florida.

one thing's for sure: it will tell us whether Wilson is as good as Diaz or not.

Auburn lost 17 starters. They lost about 30 something players in all. I don't think they will even have 85 scholarship players. They are in rebuilding mode big time. They have had good recruiting, so they will probably be down for only a year, but next year isn't it. We beat Auburn by 14+ next year and that will not mean we are good. The national championship will have Vegas skewed on the number, but Auburn is going to be bad especially early in the season. They will get better as the season progresses, but we thankfully play them early.
