and have acquired a gas grill. I've cooked on charcoal my entire grilling career and have used gas once, maybe twice. Any tips/suggestions?

Did the gas grill come with a free case of bud light****

I had a gas grill for a few years just for midweek chicken breast or hot dogs. I bought a black stone and gave the gas grill away. My outdoor setup currently is the black stone and the old trusty Weber kettle.

From now on, your "Delta Chi Tau" name shall be "Wiener"

That said I do have a small tabletop propane one that can't be beat for a couple quick chicken breasts, burgers, or some Conecuh. I can have those ready to eat long before the charcoal chimney is even ready.

Don’t listen to the haters, unless they are going out and cutting their own wood to cook on a grill they built, they are using technology too.
Get multiple tanks, nothing worse than running out of gas in the middle of a cook.
If you plan on smoking meats with it, get a smoker box. At the lowest setting my Weber runs 250° so I used to prop up the side ever so slightly to get it down to 235°. I have an easy bake Rec Tec now so I don’t use the Weber anymore. Went from ghey to flaaaming.
If your grill can do it, turn the burners all the way up for a while closed to cook steaks. Mine gets up to 800 when I do this. Open it up throw them on there for 2 minutes a side and the outside is gorgeous with a medium rare center. You can use a cast iron skillet with tallow or butter as well.
Enjoy a beverage while you do it!

Get an extra large fanny pack to hold your grill accessories.

Seriously, some gas grills have hot spots, and you just need to learn your grill and how it cooks and where to place the meats. Makes me want to throw some Country Pleasin Jalapeno and Cheddar sausage on the grill.

Nothing beats a smoker using charcoal and hickory chips for fish, chicken & pork. I couldn't fathom converting. Oh, and that goes for turkey too.

Other than the 45 minutes of prep just to cook some burgers. The only time I really fire up the Weber anymore is for expensive steaks or slow-cooks.
More like 5 minutes of prep and 30 minutes of waiting for the coals to get hot. If you're too rushed for that, you're doing something wrong.

I have a gas I use for some things and a Weber I use for most things. I never spend over 30 mins total to getting the Weber fired up and ready to cook.

The shame if it all. You’ll be cheering for Vanderbilt next Spring, I am sure. Whistling, too.
