Ivy League sued by some of its athletes ...

... Who are charging that they are paying more for their education than they should (all to the direct benefit of their colleges) by not getting athletic scholarships. I find it to be an interesting claim, one that seems somehow related to the changes occurring in the rest of college sports, including the fact that athletes can now market their name, image and likeness, and in effect get paid for participating in college athletics.

Couldn’t the Ivies claim an admission preference for being an athlete is its own form of payment/compensation? It’s not like they can point to hundreds of millions of dollars in Ivy League TV contracts as proof they’re getting shafted. Play or don’t - I’m sure the schools could not care less.

Pretty sure many Ivys are 100% need based tuition. That’s is if you show your need is room board books tuition you get it all in a need based scholarship. Iirc if you parents had a JT income less the $160 m per yr you got it all!!

That applies to most of the high priced colleges, not just the Ivys. And definitely not limited to varsity athletes.

Seems pretty entitled of them. It’s not like the Ivy’s promised them scholarships and then lied. The Ivy schools don’t have scholarships, (never have for as long as I can remember), and they knew that before they ever accepted an offer there.

The Ivy League schools laugh @ these type of law suits. I don't think the courts will accept the suits.
