I am so thankful that my buddies and I didn't leave #13 midway through the 4th quarter when it looked like we would lose for sure.

I clicked on the link with at my home computer last night and it is now in the shop. Apparently some type of virus/malware. I have Norton and it did ask permission and like an idiot I clicked. It crashed Norton and will run for a little while and then reboot and over and over again.

...Watson Brown was our OC. This is a reverse play we used thoughout the season and I had never seen a reverse play like that before or since. Unlike most reverses, it was very fast developing and it did so a lot closer to the LOS. A DE always tried crashing down on the play and always got pancaked by a pulling guard.

I'd like to know more about that play.

Watson said they'd been watching the Auburn D formations all day long waiting for them to line up a certain way. And there it was right when we needed a big play to win the game. He said the coaches were jumping up and down in the press box before the ball was snapped. They knew we were going to score from 60 yards out or however far it was.

I was there for #9!!!!

Arkansas was ranked #9 at that point- I remember my little cousin arguing with me over it in the car on the way there. They brought their whole family.... I got to ride the goalposts back to the SAE house and we stayed there for hours.

Didn't know where my cousins and aunt and uncle had gone- back before cell phones were big. We found them at the car, where they'd been waiting the whole time. Burn.

4th & 1, I-formation, toss sweep to Roberts = 1st down. He'd run for space around the corner and could always find something. Good home run threat too.

I'd pick Norwood over Roberts though. They might have about the same speed, but Norwood had all the shifty moves.

by "vivid memory", i mean i vividly remember the moment and almost nothing about the actual play because I was only 7-8 years old. I only remember it is because it was probably the first time I saw my dad repeatedly jumping up and down while double fist pumping in response to MSU athletics. Naturally like any 7-8 year old does, I immediately began to emulate him. Little did I know that jumping-double-fist-pumps would be burned into my brain as my instinctive, go-to MSU celebratory response ever since.

Nostalgia aside.... I couldnt find that Kenny Roberts run in various internet searches.... but I did come across this other gem of a run play 1991

1991 at Auburn. Close to the end of the game, Kenny Rogers got a come from behind TD on a long reverse play.

Everyone rushed the field including me. Poor bastard from the student section who was on a date with a girl from my hometown ripped his nutsack in two on the fence and was so excited it took someone telling him , "you're bleeding from your crotch" before he even realized. Had to get sewn up and **** down there.Amazing true story. Gotta love the excitement of those days.

a 3rd and 3 with about 2 min to go in the game, tied 17-17.
The play was not a reverse but a motion option play.
K Roberts was lined up in the slot to the right and came in motionbefore the snap. ***Edited to say...(right before the snap, he stopped his motion and kind of waited and turned up field just a bit but still on the right side of the line of scrimmage.)
Robinson faked the handoff to M Davis and when the DE came down the line, he pitched it to Roberts who took it to the house. He made a hell of a run and there was a great block by our WR on the right side on a come back block.
That was KRoberts one and only carry of the day as well.
Funny story from the Au sideline-------Auburn scored with about 4 1/2 to go and with the xtra point, would have put them ahead 18-17. Instead, the kicker pushed it wide right.
I was standing on about the 20 yd line and one of Auburns big lineman came off the field right at me and when he got about 3 yds from me, he yanked his helmet off and said,--- "I cant believe that mother<17>er missed that damn field goal!"

Great day to be a Dawg!

We'd play great against national powerhouses, either just coming up short or out right winning (Texass 1991 and 1992, Bammer 1996-98, 2000), etc. However, there'd be games you'd just scratch your head- Memphis 1991, Louisiana-Monroe 1995, LA Tech 1996, Ole Miss - any game before 2002, Troy 2001,<div>
</div><div>My biggest moment of the Sherrill era was the 1999 Kentucky game. We were 7-0, but played like *** all night. However, we got a few breaks and Scott Westerfield hits the game winner at the end. Unlike the Egg Bowl, if Westerfield misses, we lose. Because he made it, we were 8-0 for the first time ever.

had a great block on the play as well (same guy that jumped offsides against the Bammers that year).
