Stop taking what Clay Edwards and Kim Wade say seriously, the current mayor will win again in another landslide.

Belhaven ad Fondren will continue on their current path (modest improvement) and Eastover and surrounding neighborhoods will remain strong, but that's it. The rest of Jxn will continue to nose dive (if that's even possible).

DT is shell of what it was in the mid 90s and it's not coming back, too many profession firms have moved to Highland Colony, Madison and Flowood, the medical community has transitioning to that too. Baptist and St D will remain, but doctor's offices and specialty clinics will continue to leave for the burbs.

Jxn's best hope is to create and entrainment distinct downtown, but I don't believe current city leadership wants dollars from the burbs. The proposed casino would have been yuge, hopefully that gets down.
The leadership won't change because the voters are apathetic. Lumumba only received 13k votes the last time he was up for election which accounted for 60+% of all the votes cast. The residents just don't care.

That's doubtful to change, right? Of the few hundred white folks in Jxn, probably half will vote democratic anyway. Lubumba is great at playing the victim card, that that's what sells to most Jackson residents.

I’m a residential real estate investor and I purposely avoid anything in any area of JXN. I’ll gladly take my chances in the surrounding areas before investing in JXN proper. No chance for appreciation, lower caliber tenants relative to 39110, 39157, 39047, etc. I hate it too bc I grew up in JXN, but it is what it is.

This is all anyone wants. Nobody really cares about anything else, the rest of the city is up to the citizens.

And it achievable, with the mix of the right mayor and some outside investment. It will eventually happen, but who knows when, and nobody has time to sit around hoping for it.

Madison reservoir here. Madison address, ridgeland school district. It was either private school or we relocate further into Madison….we moved 7 times in 8 years at that point. FPDS has been great academically, had a few hiccups here and there, but no school is perfect. Looking at MRA for senior secondary ed, but that’s a few years away. With the trash I witnessed in Clinton public school growing up, I’m not naive enough to think it’s improved. It’s either private school or homeschool and me nor missus rotor are quitting jobs. I think the Jackson interior schools have a good enough base to remain relevant for the foreseeable future and possibly long enough for Jackson to turn around. Maybe that’s optimism, but I can be a glass half full kinda guy periodically. The Jackson suburb private schools will continue to strive regardless of Jackson politics. I would think that any JA refugees would disregard any institution other than St. A.

I think your best choices would be MRA or JA. Maybe St. Joseph. Could go Prep or Hartfield, but that's a heck of a commute. Agree you don't really want your kids going to Ridgeland schools.

MRA is the goal, but apparently we need to slip Benjamin’s in the applications or start dropping names to get in. Clique as ****

HA! Not quite, same vicinity. Love living out here though. Yacht club is walking/stumbling distance and the trace right here makes it a nice little area
I spend a good bit of time in the cove, or as I call it, "Redneck Crab Island."

Our oldest is 7 and has been on a “call list” since she was born. Maybe I’m just poor trash, or not an OG Madisonite. Just dirty Clinton trash
Dude, MRA was historically the public school you had to pay for. If I were them, I would take dirty Clinton trash all day and improve academically as part of the long game. Who has any idea how a kid is going to turn out at the age of 7 anyway. I’ve been out of state for years, and I feel like MRA is positioned well, but they need to not be snobby ******** (and what do they have to be snobby about, anyway) and start making progress academically
