Well that's kinda my point. Arnold would be coming here to play. So I assume you let go of Shapen and MVB is QB2. At least I hope that MVB stays for the future.
I think there's a chance to keep Shapen as the backup. With his injury history I'm not sure who would feel confident paying him to come. He could be looking at the best path to a GA position the following year?

I'm assuming this is only a current roster count?

For I'm pretty sure we've had several Washington's and at least a Tyler, Taylor, or Lincoln.
Hunter Washington. Breck Tyler.

And I'm pretty sure Lincoln Smith went out to football practice at least once.**

So if this is the route we’re going to continue to go, with portal guys like Shapen and Arnold, then why even waste scholarships on high school qb’s like MVB ect?

We’re going the hs route for practice players. Portal for starters. 😉

So I'm not trying to be Debbie downer her but why are we excited about the transfer of a QB from a team that was 2-6 in conference and 6-6 overall and we are bringing him to a team that by all accounts from what we have left and have seen is worse????? Oh it's ok because like everything at MSU now we get Sooner sloppy seconds!!!! Go Slebby Go!!!

His offensive line allowed 47 sacks last year. And he was the starter most of the year. He lost the job a few games before the O coordinator was fired. He may suck, but considering the fact that both Auburn and our friends up north are after him as well I doubt it

Oklahoma was pretty much decimated by injuries to their wide receivers and offensive line for much of the year. No one to block for him and no one to throw to.

We allowed 38 sacks last year, so he's coming to a much better situation***. And just to add to the Showtime **** show our defensive team only got 10 sacks all year.

I didn't know anybody was tracking 17ing pedigree. 5 star QBs that are top 10 player coming out of high school are rare at State. Also his high school ran the veer and shoot offense. That's why Lebby wanted him when he was at Oklahoma. He had a sh*tty OC his receivers were injured and most of their OL jumped in the portal last year. He will be a redshirt sophomore I'm pretty sure. He is a plus runner also.

Arnold would be a huge get for us if we can get him. Better than holding on to Van Buren.

You reckon he is the only portal guy they are talking with ?? Yeah...bet you are right. They gonna quit after he gets signed.
It’s going to take a huge chunk of change to sign this guy, not as much left for the line of scrimmage, after one year of running for his life he my end up in the portal next year. But then again VB might be in the portal after another year also.

Did you not watch last winter and spring. They brought some portal guys but pretty much ignored some of the most needed places and the ones we did get were a lot of crap
No they definitely schitt the bed last year on D. He did pretty good on offense but our DC was coaching with Bama and whoever was crootin on the D side was too lazy to get it done

MVB is demanding a raise so either way you are buying players. From what I read on another board Arnold is asking less. Plus Craver is asking for a huge raise. Those guys live together so losing MVB is gonna cost us Craver. But Arnold will improve this offense no doubt about it. WR we can replace. Would you rather pay MVB 900k or Arnold 650k ? Craver a million ? I say bye.

I guess the coaches have look at it and see who they think can produce the most in 2025 and not look beyond that. Of course that may be a stretch because I assume it’s still wide open again after spring practice, so you don’t even get a one season guarantee from a player.

Right. I trust Lebby judgement there. And this center that visited yesterday. I hope Turner or Hutzler are beating the bushes trying to get 3 or 4 big time DL. I mean I'm expecting to hear some rumors or something. We are all beating a dead horse saying we need some. It's the number one glaring need

If we don’t get some D lineman it honestly doesn’t matter what else we get. We will probably need to overspend some this year just to right the ship. If they don’t spend money this year it is going to cost them millions moving forward and will most likely cost our coaching staff their jobs. I have no doubt they know this

Exactly and of course they know that. I assume they can chew gum and walk at the same time. Somebody up there has to be on point and heading that up. I assume responsibility mainly is DT but after the past year I'm betting Hutzler and the whole team is prioritizing that. I see DBs which is great but I wanna see some DTs that are highly rated. Not rejects.
