Wow I had no idea that we had so many Italian league basketball fans here. Learn something new everyday I guess.

It has nothing to do with being a fan of Italian League basketball. It has more to do with not blaming Gordon for taking the money and running instead of working towards his PE degree

He probably couldn't and I see your point. I just seriously doubt when he declared for the draft he was intending to end up in a country halfway around the world playing in a league far from NBA standards. I am glad it worked out for him to get to play somewhere nice and apparently with a good team.

I just don't see where a fourth year would have hurt him. European basketball is not going to disappear in the next calender year. Whats wrong with me wanting him to get a degree in something, whether it be PE or whatever it's still something, and going next year?

Now if he signs for 7 figures I don't blame him a bit. Hell, if he signs for $250,000 I don't blame him. But any pay below that was going to be there for him next year also.

Good for Jamont, I'm glad it all "worked out" for him. The best players in the world play in the NBA. Period. That's a whole other debate for people that want to throw Josh Childress in with the best players in the world category. (Who, even if it is totally against my point, signed an unprecedented 3 year $20 million deal with a team in Greece.)

im sure he didnt think he was gonna play in Europe when he declared, i agree. but i also think that he had considered the possibility, seeing as how the odds were stacked against him greatly. he was a possible 1st rounder, and a likely 2nd rounder. go do the math on how few 2nd rounders that are American actually play and stay in the NBA(that rhymed). ill save you the time...its very few.
maybe he could have gotten a year or two on a team, hell he still might. but the odds were that he would be heading across the pond.
the league isnt 'far from NBA standards'. the one he chose is pretty solid. it obviosuly isnt the NBA, but it also isnt the friggin Phillipines Basketball Association or the damn CBA.

a 4th year could have hurt him if he literally got hurt in that 4th season. also, it takes away from a year of making money. you say that Euro basketball isnt going away, but on the flipside neither is a gym degree. that thing will be waiting for him whenever he is done playing. but you have to remember that he cant play basketball forever. there actually is a lifespan on how long he will be able to make money playing.

and yes, the best players in the world do play in the NBA. i feel its safe to say that Jamont is not one of the best players in the world.
