We’re seeing how “not good” these Leach/Arnett recruits are with the constant downgrading they get each time they hit the portal.
Transferred bc of arnett im sure and then arnett got naked and hungry
Did I miss the end of that story? Were there more details? Did he go to rehab?
Hard to believe he was one of our 3 SEC media days representatives last year
If you follow recruiting you will remember he was a really good get. Suppose to be a sure thing. I guess it happens everywhere but it seems like we get a lot of recruits that are 4 star great players that never produce at the next level. Poor evals by 247, rivals, on3 etc ? Or poor development on us ? Frustrating since we dont get a ton of them.
I thought he transferred there last year. Guess I missed this UNLV deal.
ETA: Starting to make sense now. Originally committed to USM, Arnett talks him into UNLV, now Arnett leaves, and I would imagine he's headed back to USM.
No such thing as a sure thing but people fall for it every year.
Why there's no such thing a sure thing recruit. A lot of these guys are just overrated. And it happens everywhere. Difference is, if Alabama signs 5 5* players and 20 4* and 10 of them wash out, you'll never even notice it. If we sign 1 5* and 4 4* and 2 of them wash out, it's a big hit.
He also was a late riser in the recruiting rankings. His senior year was Fall 2020 so take that into consideration with how his evaluation process went
I think in all sports MSU approach COVID a little different than some other schools and our evaluations in that period suffered. Across many sports. These are the players that should be senior leaders for our teams and they are just not there either through not being talented enough to play at this level or movement due to NIL and transfer portal. Hopefully MSU has gotten its recruiting groove back but that was a bad period for many reasons.
Billy Beane was a sure thing for MLB back in the day. A 5 tool player. Most teams draft someone who has 1 or 2 tools and they hope to develop another one, but Billy Beane had all 5.
And then he was a bust.
He is the poster child for the cliche "looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane".
Same, if they wash out after a year or two here then I wasted no time on them. If they turn out good I can start caring then but until then, not interested.
