Dangā€¦.this sux. Well at least he finished the season unlike others. No reason to not finish if youā€™re transferringā€¦..so hats off to him.

Would love to know his rationale for transferringā€¦..maybe he wanted to venture out from home. He is 21 and has remained in town. I know I needed to get out on my own at that age. oh wellā€¦..another one bites the dust.

I heard it's 100% NIL (family pressure). Probably wanting some of that Nike money. Likely seeing he's not a sure bet NFL high draft pick and wants to get some $$ why they can. Just speculation on my end.
Could be. Even though he has two years of eligibility left, I figured he would only play next year and then go into the draft. He really started playing well and with his size and speed someone will draft him barring injury

I think this NIL / Xfer portal could have negative implications for a lot of these teams. They sell these grandiose visions of riches and stardom to these young men to get them to transfer. We know nothing is ever what it seems or what you've made up in your mind. These kids who are transferring for money obviously have no passion for the school itself and when it comes down to giving that extra effort, what drives them to dig deeper? They've already gotten "paid", there's no loyalty or genuine passion for the school (in general). There's probably going to be multiple players who have been "bought" there. Some may get homesick, may not fit into the culture, etc. I think there's probably going to end up being some lawsuits or something when it's all said and done because some coach or booster made "promises" to players that didn't come to fruition and now junior is coming home broke. We'll see, but players who are willing to jump to some school for a little money are probably best to go.

Edmunds transfer is not money related. He has some family complications that have been occuring throughout the year and it was well known inside the team that he would transfer once the year was over. He needed and wanted to be closer to home, so in this case NIL or greed was not a culprit. All of these moves should not be painted with the same brush.
Trueā€¦.but thereā€™s plenty of transfer time after the bowl so like Burch, why not finish your season with your team. I get him needing to be close to home. I donā€™t begrudge the transfers, just donā€™t like the timing. Do I wish some would stayā€¦.sure. But itā€™s their choice so c ya and next man up.

Are we pulling players to us from portal as well to fill space? It could be a double edged sword that works in our favor. I want to hold off judgement in reference to this new system until we see how we do. The transfer portal is basicqllly the online market place to select plug and play athletes.
Or if there is someone on another team with a skill set we need- all it takes is a phone call to that player and a little pursuance for them to jump in the portal so we can recruit them over. Which is what I think teams are doing. Wether by football staff members or by 3rd party.

The challenge is that it's more than just a little money. Imagine getting paid $50K a year in college and that's the lower end of the spectrum from what is being reported. Until changes are made, we're likely going to be regulated to being an auditioning stage for greener pastures. Talent will flow through like water.

Seems to me that if we canā€™t/wonā€™t supply NIL to be competitive then we should change our status from a power 5 school or just do away with our program. We are becoming a prep for players for other schools. It seems like we are going to be irrelevant very soon. Very depressing. I donā€™t see how other schools have so much money support from boosters and we do not. Seems like this has been the root of our problems all along.
I'm thinking that maybe before we pull the plug on our football program, perhaps we should see how NIL plays out over the next few years. A&M has more money than anybody and they didn't do squat this year. Alabama didn't improve any. Georgia may win the national championship, but they don't seem any better than they were last year. Kansas State (Kansas freaking State!) won the Big XII while Oklahoma had a losing record and Texas lost 5 games. Utah won the Pac 12 while Southern Cal lost 3 games, including their last one to TULANE.

NIL, and more specifically, rumors of big NIL money, feels more and more like a bubble that will eventually burst. It could be that teenagers and 20-year-olds who chase NIL dollars without any consideration for anything else end up not being all that great at playing football.

I don't know if it's coincidence or what, but there seems to be a thread of discontent among former Muschamp players. Bell has openly recruited Edmond, Lloyd and now Burch to FSU, though we know Burch is headed to Oregon.

Burch, in particular, just doesn't make a lot of sense. Hometown kid. Playing for the hometown school. One year left. And he goes to the opposite coast? I don't know what his NIL money will be at Oregon, but it won't be millions of dollars. However much it is will be a drop in the bucket versus what he'll eventually make in the NFL. Unless, of course, he's not confident about his NFL future, so he's taking the Oregon money as a backup in case he doesn't make it.

Portal + NIL is designed to prey upon these "kids" making short-sighted decisions.

Maybe he's going to Oregon for the cheerleaders.
Now thatā€™s a legit reason.

I won't give a cent towards NIL. If we are the worst team in college so be it.
You may get that wish I would say sooner or later.

I guess I need to find another Hobby rather than watching South Carolina football.
This is beyond ridiculousness šŸ™„.

Iā€™ll say it again. Burch was bought by Hammond, bought by us, now bought by Oregon. I thought we abolished slavery???

Mark my words and go ahead and flag it this thread, we will be better next year. You guys have gotten used to watching mediocrity and thinking itā€™s our best. Everyone that left is a Muschamp recruit and we will get better under Beamer

Yes. So far, I see this as an indictment of character of those players recruited under Muschamp. When Beamer recruits start bailing, Iā€™ll get worried

I don't agree with the whole NIL situation but we're the cheapest dojo out there

Win anyway, without him. Isn't that what we are supposed to say?
I think I'm just done with the players leaving. It's ridiculous that a coach has to recruit new players and the players currently on the team year after year. That's not a commitment. Winning will heal a lot of wounds. Work with what's here.

Yep, that's how I feel, and I stated in another thread earlier. If I were the richest man in the world, I wouldn't give one penny to NIL. Total waste of hard-earned money. If a player wants to otherwise work through local businesses or whatever to get NIL money, so be it. I can't imagine why any fan would ever give a penny to NIL. It's kind of pathetic, really.
Completely agree.

To quote Tom Petty's song, Last DJ,
"As we celebrate mediocrity all the boys upstairs want to see
How much you'll pay for what you used to get for free"
